How do I create a blog under my own domain name?

Featured Replies

Hi,

How do I create a blog under my own domain name?

Any websites that can describe how to do this would be good.

You could buy hosting and a domain like a .com and use wordpress for blogging? Quite a few people use wordpress, I highly reccomend it to anyone.

Do you want to add it to your directory site or a different one?

if your cpanel has Fantastico, or another software installer, it should offer 1 click installs of a range of blogging tools. It will also install it in your root or automatically create a folder e.g. www.yourwebsite.com/blog

I use wordpress and would recommend it.

Hi Darren,

yes I was thinking about adding it to my directory.

Hi Neil,

Is it possible for you to email with your requirements and i'll see what I can do.

Do you still have my email?

Hi Darren,

That is very kind of you. I was basically looking for a simple blog mainly for introducing new members, and general observations, layed out in the style of my site.

To be honest I am completley clueless about blogs and have never touched wordpress before, so I don't know where to start or what you would need off me?

your going to need to convert your current design to wordpress, and then install wordpress on your server.

Make a folder on your root called "Blog" and then install wordpress in there.

Now if someone goes to www.yourdomain.com/blog they will see your blog.

There are loads of tuts online on how to make a wordpress theme, or you can pay someone to do it. Shouldn't cost more than about £200 depending on the theme.
