January 27, 200917 yr Very, very old design style there. Just looking through the source, I noticed that there isn't a single style sheet present. There are quite literally, hundreds of font tags throughout the page which could be totally eliminated with the use of a style sheet. I would say that its in need of an update, a very large one.
January 27, 200917 yr I think some nice cartoon animated GIFs would set it off quite nicely! What about a vertical scrolling marquee that stops when you hover over it? Smexy.
January 28, 200917 yr Don't forget the copy - it's also how a website shouldn't sound! "We will explain the benefits of home ownership" - what like not getting wet when it rains? "Get a $100 grant toward your first home" - now I can have that doorbell I've always wanted! It looks terrible, it's coded horrendously and it's written to match. Truly terrible. Now you guys who are looking to build your portfolios - there's your first brief!

Anything I've missed?

My personal favourite from the Forest Software portfolio - http://www.cnsecurity.co.uk/index.html - an animated GIF (I assume) almost fast enough to fall under subliminal advertising restrictions! They've even disabled right-click, so we can't view the source to learn from their master craftsmanship!
January 29, 200917 yr There are really websites that are outdated with poor design until now. Looking at the positive side, these outdated sites can actually be prospective clients to us web designers.
