December 20, 200817 yr Flyer Design, this was for a uni project. The breif was I had to use two images to promote a launch night from a nightclub called Ruffed Up so I went for the rough look. The two images I used where the wall and the DJ which I then made into a stencil and add the dripping paint. I think it looks fine but it isa bit plain anyone got any ideas of how to improve it or just general feedback?
December 20, 200817 yr Why don't you try "pasting" the poster on a brick wall like this one......give a bit of colour? You could also curl/rip the edges slightly.
December 20, 200817 yr I would suggest a few things, as in my opponion a few key things are missing. It's easy to see that you've spaced everything out so far apart is because of lack of content. The first thing you can do is move the "free entry all night" text up to the title a little, and make it bigger and rotate it slightly so it doesn't look like part of the title. Then move the drinks info up a bit and that will leave you some more space for the info like location, contact phone number, website, opening time, and possibly driving directions which in my oppinion are the most important pieces of information on a flier. Also, I'm not sure if it's different in the US but is the date supposed to be written that way? Here it would be the month, followed by the day. I like the theme. It sure represents the "ruffed up" style. -Empek
December 20, 200817 yr Hi The word (DRINK) is lovely and clear and it will go down well, because that’s life these days. As soon as they clasp their eyes on that word – they will then stand and read the poster. If you make everything to visible folk will simply glimpse as they pass it on by. Newcastle is black and white. That’s my opinion.
December 20, 200817 yr You could add some drama by playing with scale. At the moment there are 3 elements that have almost equal importance. Blowing up the DJ silhouette to the point where it really dominated the flyer would give a point of focus that is lacking at the moment and would give you a different backdrop upon which to work your typography. The header could be increased in size to the extent that it over-ran the page, without it losing its meaning. Sacrificing the drips of paint below the graphic and making the space below solid black would give you more space for text, such as the 'Free drinks...' bit.
December 21, 200817 yr Hi Thomas, Personally, I think you can do much better. Can you use some more colours? Maybe since it's for a club you can have a few people/ silhouettes in the image as well perhaps? The colours I think is the priority, clubs are vibrant and alive, the colours you've chosen my friend do not employ this scene. I advise you go over the colours a bit more, you can visit colourlovers for some brainstorming. I hope this all helps. Kind Regards, Ren

December 22, 200817 yr @ Empek and Boyles. We tend to write the date DD/MM/YY in the UK. - If we wrote it the other way, a lot of people would get confused (Including me!)
December 22, 200817 yr Id change 1st March to March 1st. Why? it is an English flyer and we write the date as day/month/year unlike the American way of month/day/year. You have to think of your target market, rather than what is right for you are The flyer is ok, I like the graffiti look of it. Really the only thing I think is a little off is your spacing, as it looks like it is trying to be busy with all the different styles of graffiti, but there isn't enough going on for it to be, so I would say spend a couple of hours doing a few more versions, this time just playing about with the sizes of things and their positions, to try and make it look a little busier and like there is a something going on. As at the minute its sort of in the middle of being busy and minimalistic, so it might help it a little if you go one way or the other. Also is this a one or two sided flyer as you are missing a very important detail. If this is a new bar/club that is opening, would it not be wise to include where it is so that people don't have to find out that by themselves?
December 22, 200817 yr Hi It looks great. It’s amazing how you can find a place whenever the word drink is mentioned. They must stir a map in with the hops me thinks. Have a great Christmas.
