I'm running IE7 - and the div in question does actually contain some text, hence the font-size line.

Hi, I've got a CSS problem - my style is defined as : .mright { float:right; position:absolute; right:5px; top:-8px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-decoration:none; border:0; font-size:13px; font-weight:bolder; } This put the text that its applied to where i want it in IE and Opera. However in Firefox and Google Chrome it appears about 20 pixels too far down. If I fix the style sheet so that in Firefox and Google Chrome its right, its 20 pixels too high in IE and Opera - and so on, etc etc. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get round this - different CSS for different browsers? and if so how do I code that? Thanks

Within the last month I've finally bit the bullet and moved to designing for 1024.

Any documentation like that would be great. Its funny, been in this business 6 years but all of a sudden I feel the need to be a little bit more thorough paperwork wise!!

Hi, I recently designed a low cost site for a client. All finished I think it looks pretty good. Anyway today he asks for the PSD files for the site as apparantly his flash designer wants therm. Now normally I would tell him to take a running jump at this point but he paid for the site design via credit card and I'm concerned that whichever way I play this he could issue a chargeback on his card so he's got the code and the layered designs without paying. Legal action is a no-go on this if that happened as he's over in the USA. Anyone got any thoughts/opinions? Thanks

We used to use Quickbooks until about 12 months ago - they brought out the (what was at the time 2007) version in the US but you couldnt get it for love nor money here in the UK at that point. We kind of fell out of love with it at that point, and moved over to freshbooks a couple of months back. Its not as detailed an accountancy package but we love it

This is fairly standard I'm afraid. If you are making any sort of decent level of profit they will also ask you to pay a percentage toward next years tax bill as well. I've seen this happen to a few people over the last few years.

I recently found an excellent website for handling estimating, invoicing, support and most importantly (for me) time tracking. I would provide the link here but I'm new to this forum and dont know if it would be frowned upon, so either someone can enlighten me - or if its of interest to anyone, pm me and I'll give you the link!

I have a number of clients that, as well as initial design, then use me on an ongoing basis to do all their maintenance and updates. With this in mind I introduced a couple of packages, which included their hosting plus X number of hours per months work for a monthly fee, and then work over and above the included hours at a rate that drops lower, the higher the package that they take (does that make sense?). So for someoe who's not taken any "included" maintenance I usually charge £25 but if they are on the highest currently available package that drops to £15. I hope that made sense, its late!!
