What do you do to keep schedule on projects and manage your time? what is the best software for doing this? is there any decent free software availiable? or do you have another method for planing and organising your time and measuring your performance? Also what do you do to set targets for yourself, stay motivated, inspired and keep momentum going?

I'm interested in knowing this myself also as I find time management and similar things to be a weakness of mine which I wish to strengthen.

 

As for motivation and inspiration, I normally look around at other peoples websites, see what I like, wonder how they did a certain thing and learn from everything from the look of a design to how things are laid out. I not long ago started a blog where I'd sort of review my favourite and inspirational websites and I review good and bad points about them which I feel helps me learn from it. Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep up with reviewing recently which I suppose comes down to my own time management issues which I really need to sort out.

Links are fine as long as they aren't for advertising. (Advertising is done in this forum).

You need to break your project down into smaller parts / goals with timescales attached.

Produce a project plan for each piece of work / site and try and stick to it as much as you can. Include things like client meetings, drafts, copy needed, finals etc.

 

I find printing it off helps and marking against it as you complete parts.

Freshbooks, really is a quality product, I personally love the fact you only need to fill in 3 boxes to create an account! Some great automation features which as mysterons said above, saved him over £300!

Yeah i like it, it seems a really nice piece of sofware although i am really after something that is more aimed at organising me and planning my time rather than tracking my time and organising invoices if you see what i mean. really i just want a program that i can plan my week with so that i have a schedule to stick to to help me be more disciplined and have targets to have a bit more direction. its probably just as easy to create a week plan table in word and fill it in, thats probably what i shall do.
