The layout is good, but some of your colours clash, the bright blue, green and purple need toning down. Search for Adobe Kuler and play with the colour wheel to find complementary colours. The site does need to be responsive too. Google Chrome has a good emulator in the Inspect console where you can preview the site at different screen sizes whilst your developing it. What platform are you powering the site with? Wordpress?

Not sure what tools / presets you could use to do this without trying myself. May be instead of inner / outer glow use bevel but bring the depth right down and change the colour of the bevels shadow? A hack would be to create a blue rounded rectangle and then place a smaller white rounded rectangle on the layer above and feather / blur the edges? Again, not so sure how it'll turn out without having a play in PS, but it's late here! I'll try in the morning and post some results.

The parenthesis or braces are part of many coding languages signifying the open and close of a bloke of code. Used in php, css etc they're used to define functions and / or classes

I really like the bottom one, the parenthesis look like the eyebrows of an owl - not sure if that's what you're going for or is a fluke?! May be try the parenthesis above the text and adjust the lettering so the O's in coding and owl become the eyes / pupils!?

Looks great! Just a couple of points. I think some of your product images need re-visiting as some of them look a bit rough around the edges - as if you've used the magic wand tool in Photoshop? The edges aren't very crisp. Also, I'd change the main navigation a little. Put some of your main product categories in it and reserve 'About us, FAQ, return policy etc' for your secondary navigation. At the moment you have new arrivals at the end, whereas I believe it should be at the start of the primary navigation. People read from left to right and a good practice is to put everything you want your customer to find at the start of the navigation. Think 'you' (customer) first, then 'us' (business info) last. Other than that, good work!

Hi mate, I bought a Wacom tablet a couple of years ago and think it's great and it'll definitely improve your drawing skills. Program-wise it depends on your final output. You say you want to draw comics, but it that to actually print out and distribute or to keep online in digital format? Personally I always opt for Photoshop as I think the tools are better for creating more realistic drawings, whereas Illustrator is a vector program and so drawings can look a bit too digital. A good place to start is to draw something on paper and scan it into Photoshop and trace it on a new layer in PS. It's also good to balance out the colour levels of the original drawing and get a more definite black if you wanted to then import it into Illustrator and use the Live Trace tool. Have fun with it though!

I agree with Phaser, they're a bit too "busy". A good logo needs to promote instant brand recognition with the audience and with some of your designs it's hard to tell who or what the actual company is the logo is representing. Try using less ideograms (icons / images) and better fonts and colours to make the brand names pop. Search for Adobe Kuler which is a great tool for pairing colour and palettes. All the best!

Not exactly sure what you mean, but had a quick look - are you sure that the link to the image is correct? There's the broken link / no image file which comes up when I looks and if you right click and inspect element (Chrome) it does come up with errors on your page - mainly 404 failed to load source. Check the image link and try again

Too much like hard work mate! Not only that, very costly if you use a translator - especially if you need to get one for each language. I've found a really handy tool which I've implemented into a couple of my own and customer websites - http://translate.google.com/translate_tools If you have a Google Webmasters account then you can login and set up this widget and drop it in your site somewhere - like in the header by your search box and your visitors can choose their native language to view the site in and Google Translate does the work for you. As far as I'm aware it works for most types of sites - static and dynamic. Have a play and let me know

Hi Keith, I'd opt for Wordpress over a Site Builder. In my experience most companies / websites offering site builders lure you in with talks of "1000's of templates / designs to choose from" but when you actually drill down into specific industry categories - usually after you've signed up and paid, you're subject to a handful of rudimentary designs. These designs are usually ugly too! Plus not many site builders give you the option of editing the code so you can rarely hack a design and make it look better. With Wordpress not only is it easy to learn and use, the community is vast and you can find a tonne of free themes, plugins and widgets to build the site with. Generally you can do this with little to no HTML, CSS or PHP knowledge too. Time-wise it's really do to how much knowledge you have already and your ability to learn. I follow a guy called Pat Flynn and he has a video on Youtube called "How to Build a Blog in Less than 4 Minutes and Write Your First Blog Post"! So you could get going pretty quickly! One last thing. I'm learning more about SEO and good practices since Google Penguin and Panda updates from what I've learnt, online gaming / betting is a bit of an SEO faux pa - bit like the adult industry, so you might struggle to index well without a healthy PPC budget or otherwise. A bit more due diligence might be in order?! Good luck

I'd say it depends on the application. Magento is great for an e-commerce website as it can be set up as an multi-channel system if you're selling on Ebay and Amazon as well - update stock and sales all from the one place. If you're looking for a CMS just a a "normal" website then I'm with the majority - Wordpress over Joomla

Hi JonJ1611, I'd say that a CMS is definitely the way to go and in my opinion I'd go for Wordpress out of the three content management systems you've highlighted. A couple of reasons for going with Wordpress Ease of use - add, edit and remove content quickly and easily using its built-in WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor It's free! As too are many themes, plugins and widgets - Yes Joomla and Drupal are free too, but point number one writes these two off straight away in my opinion Absolutely everything can be done from your web browser - installing new themes and plugins so no need for ftp details and permissions. I've used all three Content Management Systems and Wordpress far out weighs the other two. With Drupal useless you pay out for a decent theme the Drupal core is quite technical and difficult to set up. In regards to Joomla, I tried to install in once and couldn't get to grips with it and have never tried since! You can also get Wordpress to integrate seamlessly with your current website - if you don't end up having it power your entire website that is! I once had a static HTML website which I wanted to start a blog for. I managed to customised the standard wordpress theme - 2011 at the time, to look exactly as my holding site. If you have some HTML and PHP knowledge then you won't look back. If you don't then the Wordpress community is vast and there's always someone who can help you.
