  1. I like it. I'm just not sure about the box at the bottom right. Does it need to be in a dark box? It just seems like you are covering white space up which is a shame. You can grab peoples attention to that part just by increasing the font-size of the header over there and simply have a nice list underneath that. Might not work though. Will be good to see it when it gets turned into HTML & CSS. I think it will turn out great.
  2. Not bad. It does look corporate which is what you are going for, so obv its going to lack excitement. I would increase line-height of your p tags to make the text easier to read. 140% should be enough. It look svery close together and blocky at the moment.
  3. Nice site! I really like it mate. I use the same spamming technique. Its quite simple. In your client or server-side just add an if statement checking that the hidden box still doesn't have a value Example: //JavaScript if(myHiddenField != ""){ //spam detected so dont send email } //classicASP if(myHiddenField <> "") then response.redirect(back to page with form on it) end if Sorry thats the only 2 languages I could do it in I'm afraid
  4. I like it! Very good. Is the banner going to be Flash and rotate through your work? That would work nicely.
  5. I'm surprised no-one has picked up on the jagged edges of the gif's? The ones in the header are static so jpeg's can be used. As for the ones in right column, they will slide up and down with the content so will need to have transparency, so PNG would be better solution. Page seems a bit long to me. maybe tighten up the dead space in the header to save on that scrolling finger. Although aiming for 'the fold' seems to a practice overlooked nowadays so no biggie.
  6. I disagree mate. If you want cool things on your website use JavaScript. Better for SEO, less CPU intensive, smaller filesizes reducing load times (for those who use the timelines in Flash instead of ActionScript), less memory leaks and atleast there is an alternative for people that dont have JavaScript enabled.
  7. Lol I got stuck at exact same point. Glad I wasnt the only one... Turns out the user has to click on the black dot.
  8. Im glad you found that. I was eager to see what was written. The best 1 liner has to be: Im not surprised its top of Yahoo and Google because whois going to search for "idoo"??? Seems like a trickster to me...
  9. Hi Innes, Thanks for that! That was exactly what I needed. Did you learn how to do that (if so where and can you point me to it). Or did you just know exactly how to do it when you seen it? Can you provide steps (if not to much hassle).
  10. Hi all, I have attached an image I seen a website use and wondered how I can do this myself? I use Fireworks but I also have Photoshop so hopefully it can be done in one or the other.
  11. Hi Sjackson, Thanks for your reply. What makes the reflection look poor? Is it because its not smooth or because its too dark? or is it just a bad idea? I added it in to give the impression of more depth to the page with the dark to light gradient bg.
  12. Hi JP, Your dead right there. Because its my own personal site, and its not a corporate website that i do every day so enjoying the freedom, I tried to just let the creativity flow even though I knew it wouldn't be everyone's cuppa tea. But I realise what you say about readability. Having taken on board what you've said, and not wanting to go a change the colour scheme too much since its my own personal taste, I think I will look into somehow changing the colour contrast dynamically or even change colours altogether using a stylesheet switch. Maybe a will add a small icon next to the 3' A's since they will all be related. Will need to see which will take up the least amount of time and do a little bit more research to see what other sites do. Thanks again for your comments!
  13. Hi matmi, Thanks for your comments. Which 'shouting' text are you referring to so I can have a look at it?
  14. Hi mrshocks, Thanks for feedback. Comic Sans text though? I havent used that anywhere. Its 'Trebuchet'. A classic font! People have different tastes though I have taken the comment on board though and might look for another web safe font.
  15. Hi Diablos, Thanks for those comments. Just to verify something. What issue are you getting with the text fading out? Do you mean the main paragraph text? That should only be fading in darker on hover to make it easier to read, and then back to its normal state when you hover off. Is this not happening with you?
  16. The XSS alert was the guys on ASPfree testing it for XSS attacks and SQL injection. Definitely NOT part of the design... But its now removed. Thanks for feedback.
  17. Hi everyone, I have finally finished my new website. Its tested in IE6&7, FF2&3, and Safari Mac. Can others check it in any other browsers and let me know if there are any bugs. (IE<6 dont bother) Feedback would also be nice Heres the link: www.liamsmart.co.uk

Hi mate, Thanks helping with this issue. Im not really sure why you need to see code I use but it just a plain old form select: <select id="Email"> <option value="test@firstscottish.com">test@firstscottish.com</option> <option value="test@firstscottish.com">test@firstscottish.com</option> <option value="test@firstscottish.com">test@firstscottish.com</option> </select> CSS: select { border:1px solid #AAADAF; clear:right; float:right; margin:0pt 0pt 10px; outline:none; padding:3px; } Will try the javascript solution below though and see if that works!

have you definately put '#' infront of the colours?
  20. shmerty replied to MattTheBrain's topic in Frontend
Are you talking about IE6 or IE7? That code will work in IE7, its just 6 or lower that doesnt support pseudo classes on non anchor tags. You are forgetting the '#' in front of your colours btw. Another option is a simple bit of Javascript as long as the rollover is purely decorative and isnt used for functionality. Im not sure what the barebones javascript would be but it will be very simple. I can write you a mootools bit of script but a quick Googler would give you the pure javascript solution.

Nope that doesnt work mate. Im guessing its just one of those we have to live with...

Hello all, Does anyone know how to stop that annoying outline on <select> elements in FF? outline:none; wont apply to these. there must be a way though! CSS or Javascript method would be great if anyone has any out there...
  23. The code you are/were looking for is: take out the space: <div id="rightHeader"><a href="#" title=""></a></div> now the CSS: #rightHeader{ width:191px; height:168px; float:left; } #rightHeader a, #rightHeader a:link, #rightHeader a:visited, #rightHeader a:hover, #rightHeader a:active{ width:100%; height:100%; display:block; outline:none; background-image:url(../images/main/otdalt_03.jpg); } That does the trick. If you want the image to change on rollover then just copy the last block of CSS but just leave the "#rightHeader a:hover" as the identifier and change the image (or shift the image down so you dont need to preload) Hope I'm not too late with this post. Liam
