  1. Guys, Can anyone advise me on a good cheap video editing software that I can start using as a beginner? Maybe something a step up from windows movie maker which keeps crashing on me. I use my Nikon D5300 and Samsung phone to shoot video and I want to string them together and add text to create short tutorial videos which I am creating for blogging purposes. Thanks Glen
  2. Another related windows movie maker question... Today I shot a 3o sec hd video on my dslr, I tried to save it in HD via windows movie maker, an error message came up and said that my memory is full, try a smaller size. Would this mean my pc is not capable or more so that the software is incompatable?? Would it be worth my while going to dvdflick magix.com or other as suggested? Cheers Glen
  3. Thanks guys, I don't have the adobe suite, I might have another crack at the windows movie maker and see if I can get it to work this time. I'll also look into the other attached options.. Thanks

  7. Hi guys, I need to give my metal art web page a facelift www.freestylemetalart.com by producing improved images of my metal art work. I have purchased a Nikon D5300 DSLR to do this. I was into basic photography 20+ years ago and am keen to kick it off again but am aware that it will take some time to get to know the camera. I have questions relating to lighting, if anyone would have the time to provide feedback regarding the following questions I would appreciate it. Q1. Cheap lighting systems from ebay such as soft box's, are these sufficient? Q2. Do some lights stay on all the time or do they all come on when a photo is taken (Ie like a flash)? Q3. Feedback on what the appropriate lighting I might require would also be appreciated. You can see what I am trying to achieve by clicking on the link above to my web page, this will take you to my home page where you will find a slide show running with the photos that I have taken so far. Cheers Glen

  11. Guys, Thanks all for your feedback. I haven't made up my mind yet, I am weighing up all options. Thanks Jane B for the link to the Lmix camera, it is a fair price to. Cheers Glen
  12. Thanks guys, I like the gro pro (Action style camera) because it can b mounted on a tripod in the corner and can take a series of photos over a selected time frame, IE a photo every 10 seconds or every 10 minutes. The high definition image looks impressive, the fact that it is compact and lite is appealing. I want a remote to be able to stop and start a video via a touch of the button. I am sure the DSLR's have more features but the action camera is compact which is essential for me. Thanks for your comments guys. Glen
  13. Ok, So I would like to purchase a digital camera to assist me with my metal art blog. I am thinking of the go pro style, something that can take a series of photos over a period of time and also video. I just saw my nephew's camera on his drone helicopter, the clarity of the video was amazing. Voice is not as important because I intend to voice over when I edit on windows movie maker. I would like; remote control, external monitor plug in or wireless option. I would like all of this without spending go pro prices, is it possible? Cheers Glen
  14. I recently started blogging to try to attract people to my metal art web page (www.freestylemetalart.com). I am inconsistent with my posts as I feel I can only talk about my art work so much. For a living I teach my trade of fabrication & welding so there is a mountain of information that I can blog on which is still related to my product. Question 1: If I am going to post blogs on these 2 subjects "my metal art" & "welding tech tips". Should I post my blogs on 2 separate pages from my web site or post the 2 subjects from the same page? Question 2: Should I establish a consistent format for my blogs, ie word template layout or am I better off producing random posts? Thanks guys, all feedback welcome. Glen
  15. Weedy, You have just given me a month's work and it would have taken you some time to write all that. Thank you or being so considerate I do appreciate it, Much of what you said, went a little over my head but I am sure I can google some answers. Thanks again. Glen
  16. Hi guys, My web page is running www.freestylemetalart.com but now I want to concentrate on attracting more traffic. I am connected to google analytics and webmaster tools as the youtube clips have advised me to do this. I am now at the point off where to from here, I need to chunk it down and take small bites as there seem to be many aspects to understanding SEO and I am unsure which to step to take first. All feedback welcome Glen
  17. Ok thanks again guys, have made small changes again as dap suggested. My intro sentence isn't complete yet but have changed it.
  18. Fuzzy logic & dap, thanks so much for the feedback. I have made some changes, not saying it is perfect but it is on it's way. Cheers Glen
  19. Hi guys, my Weebly web page is about 6 months old, www.freestylemetalart.com I am trying to establish a clean look to show off my art work and design. Do you think the landing page needs more or less of anything? I intend to improve on the whole site layout and structure and I intend to build up to that. At this stage I am just stage I am trying to get the landing page right. All feedback welcome. Cheers Glen
