I recently started blogging to try to attract people to my metal art web page (www.freestylemetalart.com). I am inconsistent with my posts as I feel I can only talk about my art work so much.

 

For a living I teach my trade of fabrication & welding so there is a mountain of information that I can blog on which is still related to my product.

 

Question 1: If I am going to post blogs on these 2 subjects "my metal art" & "welding tech tips". Should I post my blogs on 2 separate pages from my web site or post the 2 subjects from the same page?

 

Question 2: Should I establish a consistent format for my blogs, ie word template layout or am I better off producing random posts?

Your website is very nice. You should ideally have only one blog and you can post about both of these topics on it simultaneously.

 

Layout is completely your choice. You make the layout to suit your posts and you just to need to have basic continuity like the main theme. Apart from that it is all upto you and the topic you write on.

No, keep it all in one blog. You can always categorise blog posts by theme or topic to allow your visitors to filter by the particular subject they're interested in.

Question 1: Keep all the content on the blog, maybe just categorise and tag it differently for the two subjects.

 

Question 2: Personally this is up to you as some posts may require more images or more text than others. But if they are generally consistent then users will be able to follow them more. The key thing is that the user will want to read or look at the images in the post and thus engage with your site more.

It's always a good idea to blog about other related things, not just your own work. Find out what's trending in your industry and write something compelling about it. People tend to get bored if you're just talking about yourself all the time. Good luck!

If you're trying to attract customers, blog about what problems they may be having and offer them a solution. Blogs are great for SEO if you can target the right terms and offer the right advice. Writing about your own stuff is a good way to show people you know what you're talking about, but is unlikely to be reposted anywhere else. If you can offer a blog-post that contains valuable and well written content inside, people may share that content and get more traffic to your site, leading to more conversions.

 

Obviously you'll need to strike a balance between personal posts and the problem solving posts, but I think it's a viable strategy to go for.
