It's not that. :-( It looks the same for ones without the ~ in the URL.

The ~ is there for a reason.... It's reseller hosting that I'm getting set up before transferring the domain name, rather than a sub-directory of my own hosting space. I'll send you a message with those details... I really appreciate the help!!

It's a fresh install running the default theme. I don't think it's anything to do with the themes; it doesn't matter which one I use... Plus, the admin area is "unstyled" as well. I thought maybe it was just my browser settings, but no, it's appearing like that on all my browsers/machines/devices. Very puzzling! Edited to add: I've also tried re-installing it through the admin area itself, downloading fresh copies of Wordpress and updating it, and even (against my better judgement) installing it through Softaculous... all with the same results. :-(

Lately, every Wordpress site I install seems to be missing the stylesheet or something. For example: www.zuzuweb.co.uk/~tempsite/wp and www.zuzuweb.co.uk/~tempsite/wp/wp-admin are both missing their style. Has anyone come across this before?

I feel your pain! Been there done that, getting screwed by someone who was a friend/acquaintance, after doing them a favour and giving them a good deal! I agree with everyone else. Insist on a bank transfer. Insist that THEY cover any fees -- you have agreed to be paid a certain amount; whether or not it costs them to send you the money is not your problem! Insist on some sort of "sign off" document so that there is some sort of paper trail. Do not be swayed by their sudden urgency (my hubby has been known to say "A lack of planning on your part does not constitute a crisis on mine!" :-) ) or by their threats to bill you for all sorts (I'm sure that's all just hot air). In terms of the website itself, if you absolutely MUST upload it before you're assured of payment, perhaps host a couple of important files elsewhere and link to them on their site... so if they lock you out and refuse to pay, yeah they have their website but it's not much good without something like the css file.

I want to add a bit of text at the top of the Returns page and to edit the default "Please complete the form below to request an RMA number." (I had to go look up what RMA stood for... ) Can anyone point me in the right direction of the files I need to edit?!

Just to add my tuppence worth... Back in 2008 I left my job in Belfast (Software QA Engineer) and salary of around £23k and took up a comparable job in Dublin for €40k... and I wasn't actually getting that much of a raise, once you took into consideration the cost of living. The cost of living has not gotten any higher since then, although wages may have dropped a bit. I think €45k would be reasonable for the job you're talking about.

Hi there, I recently put together a site using Wordpress. Once I built it locally, I stuck it up online and changed all the relevant fields from "http://localhost/mysitename" to "http://myurl/mysitename"... However, I'm getting this RSS error: RSS Error: A feed could not be found at http:// blogsearch.google.com/blogsearch_feeds?scoring=d&ie=utf-8&num=10&output=rss&partner=wordpress&q=link:http://localhost/mysitename/ It appears to be still looking for it at "localhost" and I don't know how to change it. Please help! :-(

I hadn't been around much and went back to it today and my account had been deleted or something. I tried registering again but never got the confirmation email so I don't know what's happening.

Thing is, it's not just 2 mins out of my day. She's wanting a detailed report -- step by step instructions, really. I have no problem giving guidance and writing up those 2 min reports for free, but this lady has had an attitude of "I want all this work done for free" from the very start. I know it won't lead to work.

Looks like it'll be a no go. She doesn't seem to have read my previous reply to her properly at all. Rather than pay me to write up a report on what she should do, she wants me to tell her, in detail, what I'm going to write in the report. Yes, because I am indeed that stupid. I think I need to come up with the nicest way possible to cut her loose. That'll be fun.

Thanks. :-) I quoted her for the minimum hour to move the logo and then explained as politely as possible some of the things involved in SEO. I told her (politely) that we'd give it a miss as it really requires a redesign, but quoted her for a website analysis and written report with our suggestions on what she needs to do. I don't think she'll go for it, to be honest, but hey. :-)
