EvaBrown got a reaction from joel1st in Thoughts on my Portfolio?I like the concept of your site, it looks really great. But my main suggestion would be about the look and feel of the footer. Don't like its style, I would say it appears to be lopped. If you slightly increase its size, make it bigger, it would look nicer I guess.

EvaBrown got a reaction from Storm08 in Band Website - Thoughts and Improvementoverall impression is good, but I personally think that the website looks a little dark. I'm aware it's a rock band website and such kind of websites are usually black styled, yet the choice of colors might be in favour of more pleasing hues. Also, I'd like to read some extra information about the band members, but there were no any in the about us page.

EvaBrown reacted to Reverie in New website needs your feedbacksHi,
The general sketch is very good, you need to add more design elements to make it prettier.
I suggest to change the h1 titles "What we offer", etc for a more stylish font.
Then adding a nice menu at the top right. Then adding details to the page around the main slider.
Then playing around with the background.
And so and so you can make the page more beautiful.

EvaBrown reacted to D.Schuster in New website needs your feedbacksI like it, It's clean simple and easy, just the way I like websites
However: try changing the text you want users to see the moment they look at the website to another colour Orange and Red are GREAT colours for when you want the user to focus on something, however red is a "screaming colour" some people might find it a bit too powerful, I learned that orange is the best colour to choose when trying to direct the users attention to something without making it seem too aggressive.
EDIT: also a background pattern might make the website seem more...welcoming, also more welcoming colours and images.

EvaBrown got a reaction from Alex Perseval in My First SiteI understand that you have started to learn HTML/CSS 4 or 5 weeks ago, that's why I will miss your coding part. But you didn't tell about design part nothing and I have some criticism. At first I can say that exist a lot of websites that you can use for inspiration. You can find in Google search a lot of popular web design blogs with articles about the latest design trends and examples. You have used so bad colors. I suggest you to use such resources as ContrastA,Colorate, Color Palette , ColorZilla. You will be able to choose the best color for your website.

EvaBrown reacted to Lev in review my new designEva Brown creates web design that is far from to be original. I would call that is even banal one
But most of web designs created by our esteemed WDF designers (including your humble servant) also are banal and unoriginal.
But EvaBrown can make this good and many of WDF participants can learn from her skills.

EvaBrown reacted to porkchops in Online portfolio needs feedback please!I hate to be that guy but I disagree with what the other posters have said.
This looks like a really amateurish composition. The background images are huge and remind me of stuff I used to see in MS Paint.
Judging by the work in your portfolio you're a pretty solid graphic designer, but unfortunately graphic design and web design have some major differences which are quite apparent here.
You should probably go brush up on the basics of web layout, user experience and accessibility. You use images everywhere without image replacing the text. You could achieve a lot of the same effect with careful use of @font-face.
I think the lack of refinement is really putting me off. This crazy layout could work for you if the edges weren't aliased (jagged), the site was larger than 800px wide (looks really silly on larger screens) and a grid system was used.
The lack of organization and visual hierarchy makes each page incredibly confusing. I don't know where my eye is supposed to travel, I don't know what you want me to do. It takes forever to see the navigation. You really want to call attention to the portfolio and contact sections since that will be what generates conversions.
I don't think anyone worth working for will contact you if you don't have a contact form. I wouldn't want a business web designer who couldn't make forms, and without one present you don't have proof that you can.
The same logic goes for information architecture. If I feel confused and/or lost when I visit your site it won't instill confidence that you can deliver a professional site for me.
Again, definitely work on the basics. If you do some searching I'm sure you can find plenty of resources. With a background in Graphic Design you should be able to focus on the web-specific stuff. I've posted a ton of content regarding this topic (I feel like a broken record sometimes) so you could probably just look through my posts.

EvaBrown reacted to roothost in new websitelook at the bold text
Why ask for help and advice then get all shirty when somebody doesn't like it and offers advice?? Yes you may think your site looks good, but to others it may not.
Personally I don't think it's all that bad design wise, some super spammy text I notice in top left but sure your google listing will reflect that.
Other than that, colours work well together, it is clean and clutter free (maybe a little too clutter free) and clearly shows the user what the site is about.

EvaBrown reacted to Jason Dexter in new websiteThere is no structure to the home page, and you have over-the-top use of jquery. Jquery, as I have mentioned before, should only be used to enhance a user's experience on your page, and in this instance it doesn't do that.
There's too many things to click to get information, and users dont like searching for things. I dont get why you have an image scroller that scroll's the same image?
Rip out all the jquery, if I get to your website, i don't care about your facebook, twitter, tag clouds or news. I want high quality templates and I have to spend time clicking around and sieving through useless content to get to them.
You're website offers templates, but the design is, and i'll be nice, poor. Then there's padding issues on your templates page; all the pictures are too close together and it's difficult to distinguish between the different images.
Why not use one of your templates as your design?

EvaBrown reacted to joe2011uk in new websiteHi,
Im a new designer, but i thought i would offer some feedback. Looks good and clean, the sidebar on the left is too big though i would suggest making that smaller. The links to the categories at the bottom I would advise incorporating that into sidebar think that would make it look better, looks good though
