March 30, 201115 yr Hi, Im a new designer,but i thought i would offer some feedback. Looks good and clean, the sidebar on the left is too big though i would suggest making that smaller. The links to the categories at the bottom I would advise incorporating that into sidebar think that would make it look better, looks good though Joe
March 30, 201115 yr There is no structure to the home page, and you have over-the-top use of jquery. Jquery, as I have mentioned before, should only be used to enhance a user's experience on your page, and in this instance it doesn't do that. There's too many things to click to get information, and users dont like searching for things. I dont get why you have an image scroller that scroll's the same image? Rip out all the jquery, if I get to your website, i don't care about your facebook, twitter, tag clouds or news. I want high quality templates and I have to spend time clicking around and sieving through useless content to get to them. You're website offers templates, but the design is, and i'll be nice, poor. Then there's padding issues on your templates page; all the pictures are too close together and it's difficult to distinguish between the different images. Why not use one of your templates as your design?

Yes you may think your site looks good, but to others it may not. Personally I don't think it's all that bad design wise, some super spammy text I notice in top left but sure your google listing will reflect that. Other than that, colours work well together, it is clean and clutter free (maybe a little too clutter free) and clearly shows the user what the site is about.

March 30, 201115 yr I have to agree with everything Mr Dexter has said. It seems so difficult to tell what the site is about/product it is selling and the colour scheme seems a little..well dull if I am honest. Maybe some images of the available templates in a more visible position on the page would help?

I developed my website using it for inspiration. Sorry, but I don't like their design. Jason, I agree with you my website isn't complete and needs some work doing to it. Thank you, you give me some good ideas to make it much better.
March 31, 201115 yr That's fine, and I didn't mean to appear like such a ****, but sometimes it's better to be like that and get my points across. It's good that you challenged my criticism instead of blindly following every-bodies advice. At the end of the day, everyone has their own ideas of how to improve your website and if you implemented all our ideas then your website won't look amazing and it'll be a mix of ideas. Every so often, you'll get a gem of an idea though which will benefit your website. Keep it up, accept criticism and keep learning

Here's a list of the things I would do to better improve the SEO on your website: (Basic guide) On-page SEO Firstly, you need to decide what keywords you want to aim for which will yield the highest amount of searches for the lowest amount of competition which means you'll rank much easily for those keywords. Use https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal where you can enter keywords and it gives you a rough idea of how many searches those keywords are and low the competition is. Useful tool. Now, compile a list of about 10/12 keywords that you want to rank for, with the best keyword placed at the top of that list. Use the top two keywords on that list and place them in the title tag in a format similar to this: 'Keyword one - Keyword two | Website name'. Then, use the h1 tag. Place two keywords in this tag, usually pick the first and second keyword from that list you made. Don't just have the keyworsd though, give it a little text like "Home of 'keyword one', providing you the finest 'keyword two" You have to utilize the 'h2' and 'h3' tags now, using a selection of keywords from that list, but avoid using the two that you have used for h1 and title tags. Once you have done that, you need to right some keyword-rich content that doesn't look spammy and is written for the user. This is where you can use the other keywords on that list, place them sparingly in the content so that it flows. Also, link to your other pages in the content, using keyword anchor text. Add the following meta tag on all site pages to avoid Google pulling content from DMOZ or the Yahoo directory to populate the meta description it shows in the natural listings: <meta name="robots" content="noodp,noydir"> Have an XML sitemap available at http://www.virtuemarttemplates.org/sitemap.xml Upload a robots.txt file (plain text file) containing the following: User-agent: * Disallow: Sitemap: http://www.virtuemarttemplates.org//sitemap.xml Make sure that every one of your domains has a 301 re-direct in place from the non-www (http://virtuemarttemplates.org/) to the www (hhttp://www.virtuemarttemplates.org/) Make the titles, keywords and descriptions of all pages stand out as unique, and try to avoid any repetition of phrases. Don't give Google the opportunity to make up its own mind about which page should be authoritative for a given phrase. Off-page SEO Backlinks. Backlinks and more backlinks. as the anchor text, use the keywords you want to rank for, comment on blogs (DON'T SPAM! USEFUL COMMENTS ONLY), get on review websites, use forums (like this one, but again DON'T SPAM!), use facebook and twitter and make it interesting for people. Run competitions and give away a template every month, or when ever you got X amount of followers. Directory submissions too ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps? It's a very basic guide that I'd use, but to really perform, you need to read up on this forum and ask questions. It's a difficult process
