Hi All, Ive started a new project and Im hoping it will become a life-style business. Im hoping to make a revenue from advertising. I plan to have AdSense ads in most of my pages but would be open to letting companies buy the advertising space I have on the site for a fixed price for a period of time. I was wondering if this is something that actually happens anymore? I was thinking of either doing this across the entire site or offering it on a page by page basis, i.e. you could sponsor the forum but not the main site. If I did do this I was thinking of controlling it by the database, but I dont want to spend the time developing part of the site that wont be used. Whats the best practice these days and what have others done to try and incorporate corporate sponsorship/adverting and AdSense together.

Hi all, As part of a piece of work I need to do a quote form but I dont really know what I would call it. Its for a car site and so what I would hopefully have is a drop down box with all the manufacturers of the cars offered that when they choose say 'Honda' a drop down box beneith loads the cars offered made by Honda. I could also do with when the user chooses a model, the model loads up in a little picture to one side. In addition I could do with the quote form generating a price based on the price of the car and the start / end dates of rental. It sounds quite complex now If someone could help me out and maybe recommend a script that does all that or scripts that does each of the pieces so I could take a look at them that would really help me out.

Hi Sorry for the slow response. Can you show here HTML/CSS? I dont really have anything for this at the moment. Nothing that I need to keep so its completely open to change. have you put in repeat-x; in the css? I havent done this because if you see on the design the grey section where the nav links are doesnt repeat right the way across, it only goes half way and is normal on the other side of the search box where the red X is. The top bit I can get working its the grey area Im mainly worried about. I need it to go only so far into the page but do it so it looks right on all browsers.

Hi all, I need a little help. I have been working on a site for a while its coming to the point where I need to finish it. Ive started doing some work on it but Im not too sure how to fix a problem. I have designed the site, done a lot of work on it and now I just want to fix a problem in the header. I have attached a pictue to show you what it looks like now and what I want it to look like but Im unsure how to get it to this point. Would anyone be able to give me some pointers or advise me on a way to go with it. I would really appreciate any help / guidance.

It took about a month, I met with the client once a week and I was done with the site pretty much within two ish weeks but they draged it out just not writing the content. It was one of the very first sites I did for money. My fees are probably still too low. I did www.ampentertainment.co.uk for £200, they have changed some of the banners since I did them. I also did www.wirral-net.co.uk for £100. I think I need to up my fees

Thanks for getting in touch. That really helps. I just wanted someone to slap a price on it and those help me out a lot. I also got a message about it too which was really helpful. I charged £120 for the site. All in.

Sorry to double post. Ive been monitoring this all day and was just wondering if anyone would give me a ball park figure of what I should have charged for the work? Im anxious for some kind of idea. Thanks

I think it looks great. The only thing I would add is a flash rotator which sounds tacky but can be quite nicely done and there are some nice easy to edit ones out there to download. I use them on the sites I do and it just allows you to sell more services in the one space aswell as making it a little dynamic. Just my suggestions.

I actually quite like the design. I think that if it was all formatted correctly with a couple of tweaks to it it would look really great. I dont really like the marquee going on I think there are probably better ways to animate that and draw attention to that information. I would also add a x running background so that your navigation bar doesnt stand alone in the middle of the page or close it off with some rounded corners. I would also add a very light grey gradient underneith the navigation as I think the logo on the white looks a bit plain for the sleek design I think your going for.

I actually quite like it. Im looking at it in just a taste way as my knowledge isnt that good. I think the design looks good and for the style of site I dont think it looks too cluttered if anything I think it adds to the charm but has a good use of where the elements are spaced.

Ok, what would you have charged for the work then?

Its written as PHP to include the header and the footer and then just tabled html from there on. Im all self taught.

Hi all, I did some work for a GMB branch of a company a while back. I have stayed in touch with the guy who had commisioned it and he has decided to leave the branch. There has been a real up roar about the site, whos going to take over it ect and they are thinking of redeveloping it all together. None of them really know how expensive it could be to do that and I only charged a pittence for the site when I did it as it was one of the first jobs I did professionally. I was wondering if you guys and gals would look at the site and tell me how much you would have charged for the site based on your rates.
