What would you have charged for the work on this site?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I did some work for a GMB branch of a company a while back. I have stayed in touch with the guy who had commisioned it and he has decided to leave the branch. There has been a real up roar about the site, whos going to take over it ect and they are thinking of redeveloping it all together. None of them really know how expensive it could be to do that and I only charged a pittence for the site when I did it as it was one of the first jobs I did professionally.

I was wondering if you guys and gals would look at the site and tell me how much you would have charged for the site based on your rates. I would be interested to see how much you all would have charged and it might be an eye opener to the branch reps.

the site is www.branch178.co.uk

Thanks

Sorry to double post. Ive been monitoring this all day and was just wondering if anyone would give me a ball park figure of what I should have charged for the work? Im anxious for some kind of idea.

Thanks

I think it more depends on the services that you offered at the time. What kind of analysis of the old site did you do? Analysis of the competition? How thorough was their specification or did you have to piece things together through a series of meetings?

There really are too many variables to put a price on the service you provided.

A ballpark would be to try and remember how long it took you to design, code, implement, email, meet them, etc. etc. then multiply the number of hours by what you think your hourly rate was then or is now.

If we're trying to put a figure on the finished article (and none of the extra bits that you may have done) it would be great to know what's there. From a quick look through it looks like several static pages, brought together with php headers/footers*, and a forum skin and install. Anything else?

*you might want to check your markup if implementing another site like this, you've got several <html> <head> and <body> tags within the one page.

pages price

1 - 5 $150 - 250

5 - 10 $250 - 700

10 - 15 $700 - 1200

15 - 20 $1200 - 1600

20 - 30 $1600 - 2100

30 - 40 $2200 - 3000

40 - 50 $3000 - 3800

It is roughly estimate it could be change depend on client requirements.

Thanks for getting in touch. That really helps. I just wanted someone to slap a price on it and those help me out a lot. I also got a message about it too which was really helpful.

I charged £120 for the site. All in.

Looking around the web, I'd say that's very cheap for the work done.

Most are charging well over £300 for less pages.

£120?? how long did it take u to do that? i'd generally do a basic 6 page brochure site for about €1000.

It took about a month, I met with the client once a week and I was done with the site pretty much within two ish weeks but they draged it out just not writing the content. It was one of the very first sites I did for money. My fees are probably still too low.

I did www.ampentertainment.co.uk for £200, they have changed some of the banners since I did them.

I also did www.wirral-net.co.uk for £100. I think I need to up my fees :)
