Getting a customised email

Featured Replies

Hello

What is the best way to get a domain name and personalised e-mails for somebody else ?

Somebody I know, who doesn’t really know too much about the internet has asked if I could organize the purchase of a couple of domain names and set up a couple of email accounts for each name, such as

Domain www.theirnewdomainname.co.uk

Emails

enquiries@theirnewdomain.co.uk

info@theirnewdomain.co.uk

Is there a charge to transfer domains to somebody else ?

Must you take out a hosting package before you are able to set up personalized e-mails ?

One company I know charges only £17 / year for a basic hosting package, so coupled with about £6 for a 2-year ‘.co.uk’ domain that’s not too expensive.

Access to the email accounts would be via Squirrel web mail.

But, I was just wondering if there is a better way to do this ?

Is it a straightforward process to forward web-mail messages to a POP account, such as Outlook. Personally, a web mail system is OK, but perhaps for a person without too much experience, a POP3 account would be easier

thanks for any advice

123-Reg.co.uk will take care of this nice and easy. They have all the help articles you'll need to get email accounts set up and they're pretty good on price too. They'll also show you how to SMTP your email account to Outlook.

You don't even need hosting. Just buy the domain and you can use google apps free. This allows you to have 50 email addresses, which can be accessed through a gmail-like interface. You can also use POP and IMAP.
