In that case, we can use ajax to update the counter hit total when the link is clicked, then once that's done, process the do follow link via the 'return true', which will load the URL just like normal. The user should not see any difference, while you get a counter, and the client gets a dofollow link.

I have made a very quick fully working mock up here: http://www.sharkeyweb.com/clients/counter/ Click the link, and it will open in a new tab. Then go back to this page and you will notice the count for that link has increased by 1. Obviously this is rough, and no advance PHP protection has been applied to it yet to stop 'refreshers' bumping up the hit count etc.# Is this what your looking for?

That's what the above will do. Evey time the client clicks the link, the counter will be dynamically updated for that single link. Then a new total count will be displayed. Like such: Lancashire Web Design (Clicked: 46 times) Blah speech here..... etc

You can set up your own 'counter' service using special links such as: example.com/link.php?site=bbc - Then each time time page is visited, it records a tally and increments. Then the user is forwarded to the designated site. You could even use mod rewrites to make the link less 'referral/money maker' looking by using something like example.com/browse/bbc etc. The links page will then just echo the 'count' from the database. If you need help with this, let me know as its not a big job making the bones of it.

Fancy sharing the client - I joke. But like Sinero Web Design said, you did the right thing. Don't feel guilty about it. If anything you should be proud that you was honest, and not lieing to the client and yourself about what you can or canny do.

But he owns the domain. Unless that domain name is using a 'tradmark' such as 'myebayshop.com' then eBay can take this domain - at cost. File a complaint with the host and domain controller and plea your case to them. Quoting any business numbers etc and proof you own the business. Edit: You may be able to file a 'lost account details plea using your credit card as proof to pretend to be the nasty ex partner? - If you get what I mean?

I understand what your getting at with no contest. However, I still think that Photoshop is the 'uber super duper best' based on the tools and features it offers. Sure gimp can offer most of these features, but that's after you have searched and downloaded plugins galore. Time to admit it, I'm a Photoshop fan-boy.

I could do the job. Just not as good as what I would be able to in Photoshop. I've tried paint.net and gimp before I got Photoshop. Never gone back to them. Again this is all my opinion.
