I'm getting $900 for my leadsister.com site. I tend to get people wanting to link up with the site or buy it. But I've had it for years now and won't be getting rid of it.

I have a backup hard drive from my previous computer. Probably would do better doing a fresh install. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks Dizi I love photography and have been working to improve my skills. I love photos with feeling and that's what I try to capture. Maybe I'll post my favorite one so far in another thread. It's sad...but has a lot of meaning in it. And thanks for the comment about my daughter. Poor girl gets the camera in her face so much! LOL

I have XP right now but I bought my computer a couple months before the release of Vista and so was given a free upgrade. I haven't installed it as of yet because I'm afraid of issues. LOL I couldn't wait to by a new computer because mine died and was running so slow and I was in the middle of work. We have a laptop with Vista but haven't really given it a test drive past browsing the internet. Anyone upgrade their systems to Vista from XP? I'm just afraid to tried it!

I bought from WebDevDocs.com. They cover everything. I plan on using these more for my local business because it's pretty detailed and for big business. For online work, I've modified/simplified the documents but in general it's a great tool.

That is too funny... also sends shivers of frustration too. Bad memories. LOL

I've had a few clients that decided to put in their opinions and I wanted to scream. I'll design a site that looks great and I'm so happy with it and then the client decides it needs some hideous feature and ruins it. It's their site and if they are happy, that's what matters. Like BenG said, I just won't put it in my portfolio or put my name on it. But it is heartbreaking to see a beautiful design go bad because a client wants to be a designer. On the other side, I've had clients give suggestions and it turns out looking even better! Frustrates me sometimes because I think "Why didn't I come up with that??" LOL Dizi... I HATE creative blocks! They drive me (and my husband) insane. My husband b/c I get all whiny and question my designing abilities. HAHA

One thing I have learned when doing logo work is to specify how many concepts and revisions. A certain price would get X amount of concepts and then revisions of the chosen concept. Otherwise, some clients will want unlimited concepts and unlimited revisions. If you charge $60 let's say for a logo, then you don't want to end up making 20 concepts for a client that can't make up their mind and you're spending hours and hours for work! Thankfully, I've had great clients so far that know the line and will offer to pay more when work is going on and on.

I chose "No, not at all" although it's not 100% accurate. The only time I have had trouble is when doing sites for friends. I have since stopped that practice because I hate having to confront friends. I still have one that owes me money and another pays me on time now since I had to send a warning of closing his site down if I didn't receive payment. So, regular clients, no problem as of yet. Friends + business just hasn't mixed very well in the past.

Dizi.... oh ok... that makes sense. Well, I don't mess with coding java so probably why I haven't run into a ton of errors like that. But I've seen the trickle effort before with one tiny error cause others.

Thanks for all the nice welcomes It's hard to find a webdesigner forum I have found out. For some reason the designers are snooty and rude on other forums and so I've always been afraid to post. LOL This place looks welcoming Mossdweller - My husband has bought me about 5 or 6 books. A few from Sitepoint and yes, they are helpful. Nothing beats hands on though. Trial and error Thanks again!

Hello everyone! I fell into designing websites back in 1996. It all started with bereavedparents.com. (Which is not my design right now! I used that template while I designed a new site and ended up with too many projects and the months went by... very sad to say the least I know.) I ended up designing a few more of my websites and eventually, I decided it was fun and kept learning! My husband is a domain guy and throws many sites at me to design and it's never ending but great practice! Anyway, right now I'm trying to work on xhtml/css designing. I can do it, but not as quickly as I should so I need it to become second nature. Plus it's a battle with Dreamweaver at times. My husband pointed out this forum and he's bought me some books on xhtml/css design to use. I still have lots of questions though! I look forward to learning and sharing! Pamela

How does someone get 200+ errors? I'm not a top coder and I usually will get about 20 errors that I have to fix. (I'm sure thanks to Dreamweaver and I clean it up by hand) But 200+?? How? LOL
