  1. *Solved!* I opened up the font from right click, and selected open with, windows font viewer, and it gave me the right click font install menu back!..der rer! Hi Everyone. I've been downloading fonts, and for some reason they're now showing as psp files, I can still drag them into the windows font folder and they install ok, but I've lost my right click, install font menu in windows. How can I re-associate the fonts so I can get my right click menu back? I'm using vista ultimate. Many Thanks M
  2. I'm a searchaholic now:).. I found soo many wonderful words. M
  3. Man! that worked a treat:). Thank You!.. Days I had been searching through piles of files, and hundreds of lines of code and just couldn't find it, then I ran grep and Voila!.. I wish I had known about his years ago. Thanks Jay.. M
  4. Hi Jay, Sorry it took me so long to get back. I'm not getting email notifications for some reason, and havn't been on the forum since I posted. That sounds ace!. I will go and check those out now, I'm setting up a prestashop but the theme I'm using has a lot of foriegn words in it, and I just can't find them anywhere in the code, but they gotta be somewhere... Thanks Mate. M
  5. Hi Everyone. does anyone know if there is such a software that can search through php files, smarty templates for normal words. I'm using a script which has some foreign words in but I can't find them anywhere in the code to change them. But something like this would be really useful. If anyone could point me in the right direction. That would be awesome!. Thanks Martin
  6. I think it's good that you like it, shows you care about your work and what you do :)very important when it comes to designing, I've abandoned many projects because I either got bored with them or just lost heart in them when other folk thought they were great. At other times I was chuffed to bits with myself and thought I made a masterpiece and other folk just sort of went.. oh!. oh yea it's nice etc.. and to be honest though most of the time, I seem to have a nack of designing very boring sites lol.. Welcome to the wonderful mind bending world of web design:) I think what you did (or I think you did) was a bold thing, you just kinda jumped right in at the deep end, and you made it work. Then you had the courage to post it here and let all see, which to me suggests YOU KNOW you can do it, and you have everything you need to suceed and create sites with the WOW factor (if that's what you want).. but anyway.. I'm kinda waffling.. I imagine you learned quite a bit along the way, so don't loose heart, You will be supprised what New ideas you come up with. I think a lot of folk possibly don't pay too much attention to the design in the way the designer does anyway?. as long as it loads reasonably quick, is easy to navigate, easy to find the content, and doesn't bury them under a mountian of popups etc are the most important factors. I do like most of the aspects of your site, and for a first attempt is way better than my first attempt which I would of been way too embaressed to even post in here.(think mysapce on acid) soo you havn't wasted your time at all, you have created, and created well at that, and it will evolve and expand. like nemo. "just keep swimming".. And so it is.. lol
  7. of course, there is always a simple answer lol..
  8. Hmm.. that is strange. It would be good to know. Maybe he fixes the electric for google?
  9. I just had a look, and I can tell you've put a lot of time and effort into this, and it does feel like you've landed on a full established website when you land on your page..For a first attempt it's a GREAT job..and you've done really well implementing all the sliders, and fancy menus etc, not the easiest of tasks. However I think it could use a little more work as far as presentation goes and as already mentioned a bit of a cleanup. Things I would change* (only my 2p's) The beveled graphics.. *all of them* they work for some things, but not sure they work well on this site, and quite difficult to read. they give the site an spookiesh almost x-files kind of impression, not sure if this is what you wanted? Also or at least I was told that not everyone surfs the web with images enabled, so maybe think about how people can still navigate your site without any images and take it from there.. *Also when you mouse over the view results on the poll the hover button is way bigger than the first one* I think the comments section could use some padding just to bring the text in more and give it a little more space around it. There is a lot more to like about this site though, than dislike and like I said you've done a great job putting it all together, Like I said..GREAT JOB!. and I really like it.. just a few tweaks and I think you will have a successful site on your hands:) M
  10. Just had a peek here.. looks fine, Firefox 3.6.3 everything seems to display as it should, the only thing is when I clicked on contact form it's still on it's own page, not sure if you've yet to integrate that or not, but all lookin good here. I agree with trying to use css over javascript too, because it can probably make the page load that bit quicker. all good though M
  11. Thanks Indexhtml (lol love your nic).. yeah, I came across punbb, which I discovered I could add a sites header and footer too, creating another option I guess, my cpanel has fantastico which Installs them, but not sure if punbb is on there. will go and check, I kinda got distracted but am back on the quest for the forum.. M

Hi Nelly, I echo what a lot of others have said here, I think it's a fantastic way to learn, for my skill level at the moment this would indeed seem like a daunting task, but oh the things I would learn along the way. I know there are already a lot of CMS types out there,..there is always room for a cleaner, faster, simpler type. not only that but the sense of community and collaboration from working with others, and creating something together is always a good thing. I think It's a great Idea, big things only become big things by starting off as small things. I think it's an exciting project, and something you could really put your passion into. M
  13. Thanks for all these replies.. I think visually it probably does make more sense to have the H1 larger than H2, sort of thing, but I would of thought that the search engines etc would be smart enough to still put the h1 before the h2, even if the h2 is is before the h1.. some good points mentioned here though. if you set a h1 class, , ie <H1 class="big heading"> BIG HEADING </h1> would that still count as a h1 to the search engines?.. M
  14. Hi Everyone. Have to admit, SEO is something I don't really understand but it's something I endevour to learn. anyhoo.. I have a site, with: (in this order on the page) <h2>welcome to bla bla bla etc</h2> font size is 16px, then right after that <h1 class="bigtext">We offer bla bla bla etc </h1> font size is 22px is this not good for seo purposes, is it ok to have your h1 smaller than your h2? or even have your h1 appear on the page after your h2 or does do the spiders/bots heads in etc. Thanks M
  15. Facebook is better for the clean layout and nice colours etc vs Myspace with it's nasty code and scary layouts, , but I find using it and navigating facebook(even understanding half of it) a total nightmare, Get rid of all those daft apps, and pokes and prods etc and god knows what, make it about REAL communication, and easy to use..and I I'll join:) M
  16. is it just me or does there generally seem to be a lot more page not founds, 404's, broken links, database errors etc on the internet these days?. I've been trying to research scripts n stuff for a design but it turned out to be a frustrating nightmare, nearly every page, live demo, forum and the actual download etc, is either broken, temporarily down (forever) or links to some cheap nasty viagra page etc.. I've found it soooooooo frustrating I almost abandoned my project, or do I just have crap search skills...? M
  17. Hi Charlie:) That sounds like interesting work.. I'm not too hot on the actual technical side of things, but could you not setup some kind of torrent/newsgroup system between the source and destination computers?. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along shortly though to shed more light on it. M
  18. Thanks Faevilangel, I will go and check it out now.. I never realised there was so many until I tried searching for one.. Oh MY!.. M
  19. Hi All.. I've been searching and there just seems to be so many softwares, I have no idea which to choose so thought I would ask because folks here have a lot more experience with it. but basically, I want to know what the easiest forum would be to integrate into an exsisting static html website. I want to host it myself on my own server. ideally, I would like to be able to pull the most recent discussions from the forum too and present them on the front page, and I like the topic preview feature some forums have, but that's not that important. ease of integration is the most important factor at the moment. but there is soooo many.. Does anyone have any pointers, or suggestions Thanks Martin
  20. Thanks Charlie:) I only just noticed the reply, I had a look at jotform and had a mess with the wizard thing, and that seems Ideal for what I want, at least for now as I don't expecting to be getting 100 submissions anytime soon lol.. Thanks a million Martin
  21. Just had a look at that plugin. bookmarked it for future reference..not seen that before.
  22. @NellyS... Thanks!. I forgot to mention I would want it for a HTML site, so needs to be a script of some sort, pref php. I know wordpress would probably make stuff like this easier in a way. But wordpress was kinda more than I needed. @Notbanksy. Thanks!. That looks like a really nice script, probably one of the nicest I've seen of that kind, not sure If I could integrate it into a static html site though. I just realised I forgot to mention that bit.. doh!, will update my post and go and read more about phpmydirectory.. Ta.
  23. Hi Everyone.. I've been searching and searching, but can't seem to find anything. I tried hotscipts etc, but just got endless pages of broken links, page not found etc.. Basically I want a script that works like a business directory, so a user can submit their business with some kind of image, or snapshot of their website etc, contact details etc..it's then emailed to me for approval. if it's accepted it displays it on the page in a really pretty way with a lightbox or some other fancy/nice effect, almost like a gallery/portfolio style but for business listings..? I need to be able to integrate it into an exsisting static HTML site. I'm not quite sure what to look for or quite how to go about it, would be easier if something like this already exsisted, so if anyone could point me in the right direction.. That would be FAB!.. Thanks M
  24. Hi Wickham:) thanks, that looks like a nice easy to use system and has a wizard etc, Thanks. the only thing is that I think you have to have a link that says myform etc, back to their site on the free version, and I was kind of hoping to find a stand alone version I can run indepenantly on my site as I'm not sure if it will look unprofessional.. hmm.. I'm gonna have a play with it though and see how it all works, and at least I can test it this way:) Thanks for that. M
  25. Hi Everyone. does anybody know of a free form maker/builder? I need to create a custom form, to collect user submitted information but I've never done this sort of thing before, and I was hoping there was a relatively easy way to make a form and implement it on my HTML site. The form would just collect information from the custom fields then email it to me If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks Martin
