How is this website in No.1 Position

Featured Replies

If you google Coventry Electrician Click this you will see Sparx Electrical at the top of the business listings.

Its been like this for about a year, that site is always number 1 unlike others which move every other week.

Just wondering how he is doing this - especially since his site is very amateur http://tinylink.com/?lXZM5JtAqE

This is extremely strange. You're right, this website is very basic. It only has one page indexed with Google and has a flash intro to boot! It has very little content and seems to be doing everything wrong in terms of getting high Google rankings. Google Business Listings works separately from how good your website is though.

It is about how well optimised your business listing is. The following things may help you rank higher:

  1. Add as many photos as you can
  2. Try and get some reviews
  3. Use your keywords in your company description
  4. Add a coupon
  5. Link to the business listing
  6. Add videos if possible

Having said all that, this anomalous electrician seems to be doing very few of these things and is still ranking. It's a mystery to me. Maybe it's a glitch in the matrix

Hmm.. that is strange. It would be good to know.

Maybe he fixes the electric for google? :search:

I think it is his listed location in google maps - he is the closest listed electrician to coventry city centre, therefore he is no.1 on the map search - if you don't search with maps enabled then he is not in the top 10
