Hi everyone! Just had a site redesign based on a Wordpress theme, your thoughts would be very much appreciated: My link So far on my to do list is: 1. Format the articles properly 2. Spend some time on SEO 3. Get a new logo at the top 4. Think about some advertising space One thing I am worried about is the forums as they seem basic with not much room to grow, any thoughts/ideas? I looked into buddypress but the them isnt compatible. I would love a forum like this one but I presume it expensive and not wordpress compatible. Are forums dying? Hi all I was wondering if you please could give me a little technical advice on e commerce systems? Please excuse with my rather ropey explanations! If I was to looking to produce a ‘bolt on’ piece of software that adds functionality to an online e-commerce website, how would one go about this? Also what sort of code would it be developed in? For example, a way of searching items by colour (I know this already exists!). Another way of saying this would be making a ‘plug in’ that major online retailers could use. I would expect that they all use custom made e-commerce software so it would be tricky to produce something that would be easily adaptable to their site? Any help would be a great help and much appreciated Leon

Hi everyone, I could really do with some advice regarding my site! It has been around for about a year and provides free advice through articles based on my experiences in the financial services industry. The site is hopefully getting a makeover of the navigation system, and some interviews with successful business people. Most of the (rather minimal) traffic comes from the Facebook group which in turn updates a Twitter and LinkedIn Page. There is some basic SEO, and the site has been submitted and appears on Google's/Bing's/Yahoo's rankings with the BusinessBird Keyword. As the site is a labour of love/non-revenue generating/charitable I am funding as much of it I can meaning there is not a lot of funding/time available. My main aim now is to get some regular traffic coming into my site using a method that is cost effective and wont take up much of my time. I am thinking a very little bit of professional SEO, a concentration on Facebook Ad's, maybe somebody ever so often keeping the Social media/article feedback side of things going. It would be very much appreciated if I could have your views on this I would also like to integrate BusinessBird sponsors in exchange for cheaper services. If there was a donation system I presume the next step would registering as separate legal entity/a charity- fun fun fun. Best Regards, Leon

I am pulling together some great ideas to improve the article which can be seen: Here Some initial pointers are: Generic images No call to action Unengaging layout Difficult to scan key points Probably little thought into SEO No links to other articles that are relevant Some of the articles are long blocks of text No mention of the services the firm can provide What about some podcasts or videos? How can users share this information? No links to the firm's social media efforts Where is the interaction? Does not promote discussion No obvious date on the articles Perhaps could do with an image of the author/ contacts - at the end of the day it is a people business. What do you all think? While I can see that a professional firm such as this must maintain a certain image and will be wary of free for all commenting, surely there is a way of finding a middle ground! Deloitte has a little bit about the team at the end which I quite like. If have any points please do not hesitate to post below, it would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi! While it is best to learn everything from the start, it is going to take bloody ages. My advice is to have a look out for some web templates that might save you a lot of work. Hit Google for a while and browse the template sites for something suitable. Have fun, Leon

great stuff! There are lots of Wordpress themes out there- and currently have a wordpress based site. Is your site something you have made yourself? I like your site, but don't quite understand how I can set up the affiliate deals- any pointers? I have found Commission Junction, and a wordpress plugin which allows you to stick all off their stuff on there- pretty useful! Is CJ the best one to go for? Thanks Leon
