hello working on redesigning my personal website www.eugenemdonaghy.co.uk unfortunately I need the header to be sticky is there any way I can make the header sticky giving easy access to the menu ?

Just use position: fixed on the header

that works thank you had to fiddle about with the top margins for left , container and right columns

Top tip. Get rid of the sidebars. Over 70% of all casual browsing is now done using a mobile phone - which means all your sidebars get pushed down to the bottom where nobody will see them.

And don't hide your maim menu. There is plenty of room on desktops and tablets to display in full. That being said. You don't need to use those CSS libraries, they are very dated and throw up a load of warning (use you W3C checker to see them).

to do list

1. get a drop down menu (will borrow one from a rwd template)

2. clear sidebar content will keep them blank

3 modularise css so i know what goes where

bye bye sidebars cleared them made the background white

hello dropdown need it on the right of header beside title (see image below)

once  positioned  correctly I will get colours sorted

Keep the menu simple. It's a one page site so you really just need the 'Home' and 'Contact' links. Don't bother with a dropdown.

Put the menu on the left below the logo and do this with your header:
