I'm fed up of everything being Web 2.0 or fully Grunge based so I decided to try and come up with something new. I made all this in Photoshop, the only Image I used was some bricks and some wood (which were at odd angles and different colours, but with some wizardry I fixed it.

 

May I present.. Building 2.0 .

 

 

Any comments? I'll get on coding it over the weekend.

I can't remember who it was but it was some sort of viral campaign (obviously not a very good one as I can't remember) but they had an almost identical layout as that. Looks sort of like a shed with a website on the wall.

Wow quite a lot of positive feedback. One thing I've just noticed is the posters stretched as such a bit too far on the top left.

One minor nitpick - the roof looks slightly odd, like it's totally flat. Most sheds will have a wossname... damn, can't think of the word.. you know, a roof that slops on two sides. Crap, I'll try ASCII art :

This is the secret of making this work I reckon - what you can 'decorate' the shed with.

 

Considering your nickname here - how about a Cabbage? I keep thinking of things like flowerpot men, beenstalks, wellies, watering cans, a washing line and all that which serve-up great opportunities for displaying content in novel ways and in an unconventional layout - I reckon you'll need to avoid a blocky, simple 'squared-up' layout considering the shed image.

 

I too like things from a different view and reckon you'll make this something special. Nice one.

Made a start getting it online, here

 

I still need to get some icons (for tags etc) and delete some CSS I don't need among other things. Looks identical in FF3, IE6 and 7 and everything else I've tested in .

 

Still quite a lot of work as far as properly implementing into Drupal goes.

Yeah, well I created them from various photographs. Only thing which was a cut and paste job was the watering can which is off a free stock site.

Okay so nothing so drastic but I decided I'm going to theme this for Wordpress instead of Drupal as I need some experience in the latter.

I've finished implementing it into WordPress, all I can say is that WordPress is a lot nicer to work with than Drupal and seems to be a lot cleaner.

 

Anyway I managed to implement dual widget ready sidebars and a few other tricks . Only thing is that the main content gets pushed under the menus in IE6 but I just need to add an IE6 specific width for the content tomorrow.

I have cloud DIVs ready and waiting I just forgot to put them into the theme. I'll get on it later, I put them in originally because the background at the top was kind of dull and boring without them. Thanks for all the compliments guys, not a bad word yet!
