September 20, 201511 yr Hi I would appreciate some help in constructing good quality SERPS Title and Description Tags for my window cleaning business. The reason for asking is that I have reviewed the search terms in my webmaster tools account, and I can see that I get a lot of impressions, but few clicks (Average CTR= 0.4%). I currently have on my Home Page: Title = Window & Exterior Cleaner - Traditional & high level reach & wash system Desc = Commercial Window & Exterior Cleaning - Traditional & reach & wash waterfed pole system - Canopy, cladding, gutter & fascia - Covering Reading, Basingstoke, Newbury I believe that I have the right number of characters for each of the tags, but have I over stuffed them with keywords? Should I make them more simple? My keywords are: window, cleaner, cleaners, cleaning, traditional, reach and wash, waterfed pole, canopy, cladding, gutter & fascia, Reading, Basingstoke, Newbury Thank you for your help. Regards Robert
September 20, 201511 yr Welcome to the forums At first glance your page Title may not reflect what people are actually searching for, I wonder how many people search for "high level reach", maybe not many. I'd suggest something more generic like "Domestic and commercial window cleaner - Reading Newbury Basingstoke".
September 20, 201511 yr Author I wonder how many people search for "high level reach", maybe not many. I'd suggest something more generic like "Domestic and commercial window cleaner - Reading Newbury Basingstoke". Thank you for the feedback. I checked Webmaster Tools and there were no searches on "high level reach & wash system", however, POLE was a word searched for. Therefore I have modified the tags to read: Title = Commercial Window & Exterior Cleaner - Reading, Basingstoke, Newbury Desc = Commercial Window Cleaner & Exterior Cleaning - Traditional & waterfed pole system - Windows, Guttering, Fascia, Soffits Canopy, Cladding. Covering Reading, Basingstoke, Newbury Any comments on this please? Edited September 20, 201511 yr by robert54321
September 21, 201511 yr Hi buddy, Um I'd say keep it simple. Search engines can read between the lines, they don't need to be 'exact'. I'm not to sure why interior is in the main title. What about; Title = Commercial Window Cleaning by Company Name Desc = Professional cleaning services for windows, fascias, soffits, canopies and cladding for commercial premises across Reading, Basingstoke, Newbury and local areas of Berkshire. It depends really if your website is solely for commercial buildings. As for the term 'pole', not sure if a customer wanting their windows cleaned give a monkeys about how it's done unless its the eco-friendly recycled water hippy types. I would have thought searches for 'window cleaning pole' was more to do with someone at home wanting to buy something like this which says in the description... The Window Cleaning Kit contains everything you need to clean your own windows and save yourself money. Includes a squeegee approx 30.5cm and a microfibre machine washable mitt approx 25.4cm. Adjustable and removable wiper blade. Pole extends to approx. 10.5ft. EAN: 8551207. I think sometimes we can concentrate too hard on keywords without really understanding what they mean in context. I had one SEO expert come up with 'Birmingham AL' as a target search term because the count was high, if the SEO expert had stopped for 10 seconds they would have discovered this was 'Birmingham Alabama' ... hardly the target market for a plumber from Solihull in Birmingham.
September 21, 201511 yr If i were you, i would never go with that description, its sounds like a bunch of keywords being stuffed right into a sentence. Its true that Google does not consider Desc for ranking, but I'd still stay clear of this strategy and yes the title suggested by BrowserBugs seems right there.
September 21, 201511 yr Author Thank you alexjames212 and BrowserBugs. I am warming towards nice flowing statements that describe the services provided. This is difficult stuff to get right. I am correct that meta keywords are also no longer used by the search engines? Edited September 21, 201511 yr by robert54321
September 21, 201511 yr Some still get hints from them but not ze Googles; it's more about the overall theme.
September 22, 201511 yr yes, SEO meta like Title, Description is important part of the any web page, its increase search visibility in google result.
October 20, 201511 yr Meta title and description is very important for a website to make read by Search Engines. By making keyword stuffing in the description, the website may be punished if there is a change in Search engine algorithm.
October 29, 201510 yr I heard that, nowadays meta description is not considered by Search Engines. Is it real?
