I have recently created some stickers in GIMP to send out to people in the UK so that they can send them to people around them. I want to get the message across of this party to as many people as I can so I'll be printing off around 500 stickers, sending them in the post to anyone that is willing to pay a small fee for them, I'd say about £3 - £4.

 

The two URL's I'm going to be adding on the stickers are meritocracynow.net and meritocracyparty.org, the landing page is on meritocracynow.net, you may find this interesting if you read it. I'm not going to go too much into what we're about but the landing page is going to explain it to as many people as possible.

 

I had made these before and someone said that the resolution on them wasn't quite up to what it should be, it looks good on screen but when printing them off, I don't think they are going to be ideal. The text doesn't look so smooth even though I've converted it to a .png, i'm using GIMP 2.8 by the way.

 

I'm hoping to sell these stickers to people in the UK and they are going to give them out, the people will hopefully look at the meritocracynow.net page but I haven't included that yet.

 

How can I make the text look smoother and do you have any criticism for how they are made. I think the URL on the sticker is a bit small, needs to be resized.

 

Oh and by the way, what is the best way to sell these? I've thought about creating a website but I bet I could sell them on ebay. I'd put them in a letter envelope and then send out 500 at a time, I'm using sticker paper, do I need an expensive printer for this or can any printer handle it? They need to be of high quality though and little expense.

you need a layout program for the text - scribus maybe if you're going the open source route and don't have indesign or illustrator. otherwise possibly inkscape but not sure how good that is for print work/exporting to pdf for example. anyway making text as bitmap will never look so good when printed

 

the url doesn't have enough contrast -- how about on a black band at the bottom? or black text on orange. also line up the elements

 

if you're using a print shop then ask them for best format (guessing vector or then pdf) and what resolution for artwork/final export. oh see you're thinking of printing them at home - i would print from a pdf

 

how are they with the font choice? i notice they use open sans on their web site do they have any style guide?

What do you think about this?

the second enlightenment text has far too little contrast. not enough space betweem text and logo and logo is a little cramped against the edges of the flyer. typo: "for millionaires' 100% ..."

 

perhaps reverse text for the url? white on black or yellow on black?

it's open sans isn't it? what don't you like about it, or rather why don't you think it's appropriate for this sticker/flyer?
