i set myself the challenge of building a site in 24 hours based on crticism from various forums.

 

this is my end product. once again let me know what you think.

shouldnt the flash version be first? then a link to HTML.. Its ok i like your logo the most.

i did condider that, but Flash is a dying art-form.

 

Most people visiting my website want to my work straight away, not deal with pre-loaders and such. Its a shame though....

Just to let you know building a website in 24 hours isn't necessarily a good thing. Time put in means quality coming out!

For some reason, on the web work page when I use the scroll wheel on my mouse it scrolls reeeeeeeally slowly, and is kinda frustrating. Dragging the slider is slower than normal as well. Seems to be happening to that page and the very bottom of the snaps page, dodgy script somewhere maybe?

 

None of your pages validate either (use of id instead of span where there are multiple instances of the same div, no alt tags on your images, missing trailing slashes on image tags), despite the link to the validator in your footer claiming otherwise.

 

I'd also be careful about rating yourself 100% on skills (especially when your own portfolio has the aforementioned validation problems), it can give the wrong impression. You may be good at Adobe CS3, HTML and CSS, but if you imply that you're good, but always striving to be better, it will ultimately reflect better on you to potential employers than someone who comes across as a bit cocky.

 

Outside of those, some great improvements. Good work.

Firefox 3

The flash version took about 3 minutes to load. And I'm using 8 mb/s connection speed...

I like the style / color of it. It just seems you have a lot of spacing issues.

 

Your Flash Version buttons has no padding. Spacing of your subheader seems a bit odd only 1px above and many below. Your footer text has no padding. Your webwork page has no padding at the bottom. And your your "Other Stuff" Page has no black background. Wich is a bit inconsistant. The Title "Other Stuff" is very vague and gives no actual information about the content of that page, might wanna change it.

You logo doesn't seemed to fit in the design, you design is very clean looking and your logo is more playfull. They are 2 completely diffrente styles and they don't really fit together.

 

Has a nice style the website. just a couple of small issues to look at.

yeah its cool, I would make the font sizes one bigger and maybe two bigger for the navigation. Then just put some padding on the footer so its the same as the content boxes.

to be honest it dosn't really look nice. It not different its a bog standard amature website to honest... I am not good at designing layouts so i know what am speaking about haha. But spend more time and put thought into the layout instead of doing it in 24 hours

Flash version took about 30 secs to load, and is really bad. You just shouldn't have a flash version, it's poorly made (especially that unnecessary navigation following you around).

On the 'About Me' page where you blame twitter for the invalid code, its actually something you could have fixed.

 

Just change the ampersands (&) in the Twitter script to &

 

You've also got a closing div at the end of your document (line 128) for a div that isn't actually open.

Still doing it. Firefox 3 on XP SP2.

 

Seems to be OK in Safari on my Mac, and IE7, so may just be a Firefox problem.

 

Looks a bit of a mess in IE6 and IE7 though.

shouldnt be a problem in ie6.... theres a fix:

and as far i was aware ie7 fixed the .png problem. but ill check it out anyway, thanks for that.

Ah, thought the black background was transparent PNGs gone wrong, didn't notice IE had a different stylesheet.

 

The IE version doesn't look anywhere as slick as the Firefox one. Just seems quite messy in comparison. Ideally a site should look the same in any browser.

ya spelt PHOTOGRAPHY wrong.

definitely... but the Firefox Vs IE debate is old. If a user still uses IE, theyll have to deal with a lesser experience unfortunately. My main aim is not to detract from the content....
