Rough Review

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just looking for a quick review on a site.

I was recently tasked with a slight redesign of a site (making it wider and responsive). The original site was built in 2007 and I was given 2 days (16 hours) to complete the task.

Here is the original.

and

Here is the new version.

I didn't have complete control over the look of the new version and some features I had originally added in are now gone :(.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers.

Al.

Hey mate,

the original site looks like it has... no stylesheet? If that´s not a bug, it wasn´t hard to create a better-looking design :p

However I like your new version, it´s structure is just as it has to be, though I don´t like the color combination in the navigation but I bet that´s not your fault as you had to adopt their old logo (and the colours of it), true? Ah, the only negative thing I got to mention is the BIG header picture! It´s way TOO big in my opinion!

You say the original was from 2007, it looks more like it's from the nineties! You have cured that problem though, it's nice functional and clean. One minor detail is the call to action, it is just a little too subtle and needs picking out a bit more.

Thanks for the replies.

I thought the slider images were a bit on the large side especially when viewing on a larger screen. I am using the Nivo Slider and the height was on auto and width 100%, but there was a slight judder on the text of the first slide (dropping by about 1px or so). I have changed the height to always be 450px of those images and this has removed the issue with the caption text but the images are stretched on wide screens which doesn't look great.
