I want to buy myself a new smartphone and tablet but, I am completely torn between Apple and Samsung.Should I buy an iPhone and iPad or a Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1? I can't decide between the two options. What would your recommendation be? Thanks!
February 21, 201412 yr If you will be using them for testing, it's good to have both Apple and Android devices - maybe mix them, get Samsung phone + iPad.
February 21, 201412 yr It really depends on what you are looking for, I am an apple man, I have mac, ipad, iPhone and Apple TV.. The reason I have apple is not jus because of build quality but also because I needed a mac for uni because I had to use certain software on a mac, then I got a google nexus for taking notes, found it slow when typing, it could not keep up and it's spell correction was really inaccurate so I found myself getting left behind.. Sold that and got an ipad, keeps up nicely As for the iPhone, well may as well get a comparable set and it was only natural to get the Apple TV too. I have turned into an apple freak but that's because apple does everything I need it to do, it's responsive, easy to use with great build quality. What do you want them for, as if it's only basic stuff, for example if you a not the greatest typeset in the world you could probably get away with the cheaper option.. Not apple On the other hand if you need it for serious work, note taking, I use mine for design mac and ipad.. You are better off with apple.
February 22, 201412 yr I'm not a fan of apple, but that's a totally unreasonable prejudice because my brain doesn't work in the way they seem to think it should. My children seem to like their ipads.

March 9, 201412 yr I went the nexus route myself, some say it is slow. But as with all android devices you have to deliberately kill running tasks with a separate task manager to keep the speed up. The phone is great, I can use pass-through both directions and thus no matter where i am I always have at least 3g data for both devices, (Both have 4g), and I used to spend a lot of time on the road so that was a big consideration for me. I don't like the way all mobile devices use these silly 'cut down versions' of the applications I want to use no matter what the OS is. Android came the closest to being fully functional with the larger number of apps available for the things I wanted to do. Before I had my nexus duet I had to lug my laptop, a tab 1, and an HTC phone everywhere! Now the laptop is confined to my desk unless I want to take it outside to work in the sunshine.
March 10, 201412 yr I went Nexus 4 over a year back, it's faster than my iPhone, better call quality, more reliable and twice as good on battery life. I do not miss the iphone at all. My iPad isn't exactly great either, I find it slow especially with Java, it also crashes a lot. I only use it for web and reading drop box files. I'm thinking I should have bought a nexus 7 or 10!
March 10, 201412 yr Most people I know with iPhone have issues, all of them have awful battery life too. Mine used to randomly reboot, several of my friends iphones do this! It's like the whole Mac debate, style over substance at massively inflated prices. Apple = overrated.
March 10, 201412 yr A lot of people tend to design with Apple devices as their breakpoints (disagree with this), so Apple arguably is a popular choice, but then again, so is Adobe. Depends on your own requirements. I use everything Apple based - not because I'm a fanboy, but I got tired of Windows and now everything I have is Apple related so no point duplicating. I do have Windows machines and mobiles for testing however, just never use them for personal use. I've never had a problem with my iPhone's battery life other than when I have a third party alarm app running. However, every other time I use my iPhone in the car (as in plug it in to the stereo), I have to do a hard reset as the sound goes and I lose text history for a bit. I'd upgrade to the iPhone 5 but a) don't need it think it's overpriced for what it is. If I didn't use Apple, I'd most certainly use Samsung. Why not go for both then? Perhaps the Galaxy S4 and an iPad?
March 10, 201412 yr Safari on iPhone & iPad crashes frequently for no reason, some CSS3 properties and transitions make it crash... More so on iPhone, iPad is kind of OK. However most people tend to buy Apple, so you have to test on Apple devices. Samsung are great - I will get another Samsung phone for testing this year. The battery life is fantastic. If you disable apps running in the background on iPhone, the battery life is not too bad, but still can't be compared to Samsung. Does anyone have a Windows phone?

April 17, 201412 yr Hey, Both are awesome but your way to look royal you should buy Apple but if you want some awesome processor than buy samasung s4. I most like samsung S4 because its features and technology is more and grate than apple.
May 7, 201412 yr Admittedly I'm an Apple man. I currently own an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 with a view to upgrading to the iPhone 6 this summer and perhaps a retina iPad Mini towards the end of the year. I prefer the build quality of the Apple products and did consider getting an Android phone earlier this year (either the S4 or HTC One M8) but I found their handsets too big for me to use for long periods of time comfortably. The Android operating system didn't do much for me either to be honest.

March 18, 201511 yr Good choice. I have both iPhone and Samsung galaxy, and the iPhone is reduced to testing purposes only. Samsung in my opinion is more capable and hence the one I use for my day to day activities.

To be cheap I bought S4 / Galaxy Tab combo; purely because many family members and friends went Apple so I can get my hands on most things, from iPhone 2 - 6 and the full iPad range for free Does anyone have a Windows phone? Yes! I have one. My neighbour bought it 6 months ago and got so annoyed with it he gave it to me for testing and bought the new Samsung.
