Hi Everyone

 

I'd really like your feedback on a driving school site that I just launched. It's fully responsive and it was all done by myself, no frameworks.

 

Just let me know what you think. Got a couple of sites coming up that I think will be my best so far, but let me know about this one.

looks good, the menu/navigation could do with some work when the width is small as it goes on two lines

Thanks. Yes the navigation was a bit of a pig. Tried to implement several menus and couldn't get them to work. I've got a couple of ideas up my sleeve though.

 

Although I did slate Twitter Bootstrap in another post, I have used it recently to get a website up and running quickly and I now know it's place.

The menu is also the most noticeable thing for me, maybe try setting the link to be 100% width, below a viewport of 600px and stack them on top of each other.

 

You have to imagine clicking those links when the website is accessed through a mobile phone etc.

Cheers, I've added a quick fix so that the navigation is 100% and centered for smaller screens.

Looks good Oliver, nice work. It's certainly a hell of a lot more pleasing to look at than most other driving school websites (http://tinyurl.com/klwzydv - need I say more?).

 

Personally I find the bright green a little too profound and 'in your face'. Additionally the font is somewhat effortless, it could look a lot sleeker with a smaller-sized Tahoma or Arial choice, or eve go for a custom @font-face to be extra adventurous. Also, you've gone to the effort of making the site look nice with the background image and toggling info-box in the middle, why not spice up the contact info top-right of the main page? It seems like it doesn't belong there, almost like it's been slapped on because it fills a space. You could add some design to the '#cta' container div, make it a bit more pleasing to look at.

 

Just my personal preferences, nice work otherwise.

Looks Good, Require making proper color combination scheme, decreasing size of contact number because it is similar to logo size.

As someone mentioned above it's way more better than most of the websites that Driving Schools have, however, other than functionality the design is not that pleasing to be honest. Reminds me of early 2000's, simplicity looks amazing if it's applied the right way, here to be honest it's not applied properly. Good job though.

Thank you for your comments. The colour scheme I was given was black and green (to match the car). I always find darker colours hard to work with.

The navigation is still the same, pal.

 

I also noticed that the section containing "Call Nigel" starts to overlap the area below it is as you decrease screen width. This appears to be due to setting the #cta section to a fixed height, remove that and simply add padding and margin where applicable, it will be responsive once you start changing the viewport size.

The navigation is responsive now? Maybe it's caching for you?

 

Nice site Oliver Borehamwood is really local to me I expected you to be local and then it says you're from Manchester.

 

For the menu could you not use something like this?

It would look a lot better if the menu didn't take 50% of the screen on mobile.

 

It looks great, but i would suggest you to keep the image slider only on the home page and not on all pages, as there is content which needs to be scrolled due to the slider. Try if you can reduce the height of the header and fix it so the menu will be accessible even if the user scrolls down.
