I'm about to start my first ever ecommerce adventure. I have PHP programming experience and not much with Java. The site will be hosted on Godaddy and in the admin of Godaddy it has apps for Joomla, Drupal and ZenCart. Iv signed up for Magento but iv since read it is hard to configure as well as hard setting up on Godaddy server?

 

My other question is which open source ecommerce allows payment by the user entering their debit/credit card details rather than just using paypal or google pay?

If you are using open source such as Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress, then you can easily configure Authorize.Net payment gateway to accept users payment via credit and debit card rather than diverting users to Paypal or Google check for payment.

I have used zencart for a couple of ecommerce sites and found it easy to configure with paypal. I have been experimenting with prestashop although magento receives better feedback from seo point and security. The only problem is magento is meant to be difficult for customers to update and maintain and clients are looking for something as simple as facebook to update these days!

We use prestashop it has great feature, lots of community support, hundreds of free and paid modules and templares, easy to customise, and nearly every payment gateway is available for it we use secure trading but there are hundreds that are available for it and the majority of them are installed when you install it

I've used OpenCart in the past which has served me well. I'm sure Prestashop will work well too

I just started my own as well on godaddy. never did any web sites before and used wordpress with woocomerce actually found it surprisingly easy. id recommend it

You should go with wordpress woocommerce website theme. This theme has ultimate features and you can upload multiple products as their is no limit to upload the products.
