I added some nofollow links on high PR sites to my site.

Now I see these in the webmaster tools in the links to your site section.

What does this mean? nofollow counts or doesn't count? Getting confused...

You will see those links in webmaster tools, that's correct behaviour

 

The "nofollow" attribute simply means that the link carries no real value (in the case of Google then that means Pagerank). The attribute doesn't stop bots from following the link, that's why you still see them in Webmaster tools.

But some guys on some blogs say that they ran tests adding only nofollow links and that helped their rankings.

Can it happen that nofollow links from high-PR (5+) sites still matter?

some nofollow will be nice additional for you link building process.

As per Google there is no benefits of nofollow links froom high pr pages to our PR.

And in terms web master tools Google has confirmed many times that webmaster tools shows mixed site maps of both nofollow and dofollow links so we cant rely on the data provided by web master tools.

What they are trying to do is to stop people paying for links on high PR domains to boost their own PR.

 

As Bluedreamer states they are still crawled and noted by the likes of ahrefs, Google and Moz but the nofollow attribute means no "Link Juice" or PR is passed to the relevant page.

 

IMO a 'healthy' looking backlink profile should be a mixture between followed and nofollowed links but you should not build links for the ranking boosts as these tactics are being noticed by Google and many webmasters are receiving WMT messages

Nofollow tag means that google doesn't follow the instance of the link. As it doesn't make sense to other search engine but it is importan for Google as majority of searching is done with Google so it is beneficial to stick with google guidelines.

Each website should ahve both follow and nofollow links so that it becomes a naturaly way of building backlinks and also it would result in good serps.

Try to create back links in dofollow sites instead of the nofollow sites. Because Google crawler doesn't follow those sites mentioned as nofollow.

No follow usually passes no link value but the search engines still follow them just as links with no such importance.But no follow links from high quality site still carries some authority.

Nofollow links can be of some use at times. Getting no-follow links from high authority .edu /.gov sites can be of great importance.

The nofollow links doesn't bring any link juice into the website's pagerank but still some websites contribute to little bit of increased rankings in the search engines.Google recommends a website to have both follow and nofollow links.

Have no doubt my friend, nofollow doesnt pass any link juices to the destined url, it only helps you to attain traffic which is again good with respect to SEO.

U should combine dofollow and nofollow to make your link building looks natural. With the update, we can see that it is important to have a natural links to our website.
