May 13, 201313 yr I have about 20 domains as add-ons via cpanel (same account) on a VPS using a custom nameserver. I migrated about 15 sites onto the server all of which are wordpress built sites. All of those 15 sites load fine when entering or clicking a link for www.thedomainname.co.uk for example or even http://thename... which then resolves to the www. version. The additional 5 domains have been added after the VPS was activated (on to the exact same account as previous 15) and subsequently www. results in a page not found scenario, where only http://versions work. I am new to VPS but do not appreciate being told not bother if I don't know what I'm doing - Which is the reaction I got off some idiot on the cpanel forum. Do you tell a non-driver to stay away from a car if they don't know what they're doing? No - I want to learn and am here for expert advice! Any pointers, tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
May 13, 201313 yr What you need to to do is to set up a CNAME for the www sub-domain in your server's DNS records. In the site's cPanel go to "domains -> advanced dns zone editor" select domain from dropdown Name: www TTL: 14400 Type: CNAME Address: example.com click Add record repeat for all domains which have the WWW misssing zone should then show in list below CNAME means it's an alias TTL is TIME TO LIVE in seconds And long-term you may wish to pay a server admin to optimise your VPS so that WWW sub-domains are set up automatically for you when creating a new account. Other common sub-domains are: ftp and mail which often are set up as part of account creation. Hope this helps! Edith
May 14, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the reply terranetwork - I've managed to narrow the issue down to softaculous installations of Wordpress??? Any manual installations are set up correctly and work fine - its very odd and in my inexperience I'm not sure why this occurs. Any thoughts??? Thanks again Martin

Thanks again Martin You might want to contact your host to make sure they have the latest version of Softaculous as some fixes were released not long ago for some scripts. If its not that do you get any errors when accessing the Softaculous WP install?

May 7, 201511 yr You may check the dns template settings from whm . There is a chance that www CNAME lines are missing from that template. That will be the reason adding new domains are not working with www.
