April 2, 201313 yr Hi guys, been asked to do a design for a new software development company. This is my second stab after a rejected first attempt. Anything to improve would be great
April 2, 201313 yr Of course it depends on what the client is after, but... Nice, clean layout. Like the colours. The only thing I would say is that the blue part of the logo is difficult to read on the dark background. If the shade of blue is not important could you lighten it up so it can be read easily?

Thanks for taking a look I do agree with you on that point and I'll take a look at lighting the header a touch.

Anything to improve would be great demo4.jpg I think it's looking fairly good mate, I would agree that the logo could do with some work in terms of the colors as it is slightly hard to read. But as for the rest I think you have maintained a consistency of a light and elegant look. Just needs those final tweaks and I think they will be pleased. =]
April 2, 201313 yr dunno how your slider functions, but maybe take a look at a parallax slider? looks a little more flashy, clients like flashy Edited April 2, 201313 yr by webcanvasdesign
April 2, 201313 yr dunno how your slider functions, but maybe take a look at a parallax slider? looks a little more flashy, clients like flashy That would be great in my eyes, but I've since sent the client this demo image and they want to keep it as 'metro' as possible. The slider will animate like Windows tiles and I've also removed the pattern in the footer. Thanks for all your comments, though. It feels like I haven't got that much to work on other than get all the normal page templates sorted!
April 2, 201313 yr what about something like this mate? masonry desandro com it seems reponsive down to mobile, personally would fit a metro theme perfectly! EDIT: Zoom in and out they all rearrange themselfs.. pretty nifty Edited April 2, 201313 yr by webcanvasdesign
April 3, 201313 yr 'ello It's a bit late for me to go over properly, but it looks nice and clean. A couple of quick comments - food for thought really - the logo is nice, but like babrees said, a little tricky to read with those colours. Perhaps make the social icons a touch smaller. Of course if you're aiming for touch devices, the *recommended sizes are 44px ish. Are you adding another function to the right side of the footer like a 'latest tweet' type widget? Looks a little unbalanced to my current wonky eyes. The only thing I don't like about it is the arrows for the slider. A bit too high and thin for my liking but that's more preference than something constructive Other than that, it looks pretty good

Yes the footer will have 3 columns filled, in some discussion with the client about what they want in there. Personally I'm not a fan of the links because they take up more space than they need to; it's possibly something I could pop in the sidebar for the normal page templates. I will come back when it's finished so we can see how it's developed.

April 7, 201313 yr nice work, try to detach the logo from the background color.. maybe (i am guessing) using a 1px white stroke around the logo or something like that, or even a light gray, it shouldn't affect the orange but should improve the blue
April 8, 201313 yr I visit the site which you share in this forum. Its really looking very nice. Good color combination, attractive page layout, good font size. I think there is no need more changes in it.
April 15, 201313 yr As promised, here is the final homepage which got sign off after its development. I took on board the advice to change the logo colour, and the client went along with it which was great. I also changed the icons to add a little more colour to them. Thanks for all the help!
April 15, 201313 yr You know what I like most about this.. its simplicity! There are too many designers/developers who tend to go over-board, but you seem to have gotten it spot on.. The only thing I would change is the links in the footer, they look a bit thin or something, maybe center align them to give it the effect of taking up some of the blank space.. other than that, I't very nice.
