March 31, 201313 yr Hey! Been working on a charity event website there wasn't much of a brief, it just needed to be simple, get all the information across. So came up with... http://www.everestclimb.co.uk Whatcha think? (Just need to tidy up the code!)
March 31, 201313 yr Hi, Jack Yeah - looks nice and effective. The red you used for links was a little tricky for me to read, but then again, it's Easter weekend and a Sunday morning Good option to have the poster as a download. Chances are the people you're targeting would print it off and put it up on noticeboards and get the word out. It sounds like a really good event. I trust you are taking part?...
March 31, 201313 yr Very nice and simple. Just a couple personal preferences though: I would give the text in the top left corner a bit more padding. I would posterize the mountain and make it bichromatic. This would also help if they wanted to print offset posters. I agree with 4li4s about the link colour. The red seems a bit out of place and not very "linky." We are all rather trained to think of links as blue and emphasized text as red. Perhaps a darker hue of your turquoise? The items in the "In aid of" section look as if one of them dropped accidently. I would either list them in a line (although they are a bit wide for that) or in a centred list. I don't know if you did the copy but it might be nice to mention exactly how high Mount Everest actually is. Sounds tempting. Perhaps if I don't manage to work off all the chocolate I eat today I'll have a go
March 31, 201313 yr Liking it mate. Not to sure on the link colour, it's ok but where the tweet link sits over the mountain it's hard to read. Also you might know but in IE 9 on Win 7 the "Hampshire DofE Youth Forum" is popped out the right of the container by about 50%.
March 31, 201313 yr Author Cheers for the comments guys! Yeah, agree on the link colour. I've been playing around, but trying to find one thay fits in with this turquoise colour is a right pain!
March 31, 201313 yr Looks great to me, I agree about the link colour, maybe make them bold, or maybe use the link colour you have at the moment as a link background. I am working on a design with a similar colour scheme at the moment, what a coincidence I think the block of text would look better centered maybe?

Why didn't I think of that :') the boldness and hover seems like the best option, shall get to that shortly! Shall see what it looks like centered UPDATED WEBSITE Edited March 31, 201313 yr by JackDanielTracy
March 31, 201313 yr Oh, I am so sorry! What I meant was to center the block of text, so it is in the middle (margin:0 auto;) Actually the justified text was good, one of the very few examples where the justified text works. I wasn't clear, sorry. Edit: I just tested it - I gave #titlewrap a margin : 0 auto and it looked good to me. Edited March 31, 201313 yr by teodora
April 3, 201313 yr Nice poster site but there are a couple of (very) minor things imo: Firstly, I'm not sure about the background colour. I think a lighter colour may go better. Secondly, why not increase the body text to 15px and the line-height to 25px? It will make the text to read. Thirdly, would the information packs and poster not be better as PDFs? Overall though, great stuff!
