Evening all :drinks: - thought I may as well stick a 'hullo' in here :)

I'm Ben, (tried to register my username as 'Ben' but someone else has took it.. ;) ) and I'm from Scotland.

Currently doing a little bit of freelance web design on the side, looking to do more of it in the future. I'm at home with XHTML/CSS and a dabble of php to get things working! I'm definitely not a programmer tho! I quite like the accessibility side of things, and SEO is something I'm beginning to get my head around. Really like the look of this forum :)

Speaking of SEO - I found this site looking for UK CSS Forum, so head's up to the SEO dude :good: - been looking for a good 'web' forum which isn't so American or full of spam!

Um, er, aye - that's it! Anything else you wanna know? :air_kiss:

Wow! Nice introduction Ben, I feel I know you better than myself! :hi:

My apologies for taking your name by the way! :D

You sound perfect for this community Ben, thanks for joining, also thanks for the heads up on the SEO...funny you say that I just changed the meta data tonight...i'v got second thoughts now! he he. But that is promising, thanks for the info, good to know we are doing things right!

We have another fellow Scot' Eskymo! She has some impressive work, you should check it out! :clapping:

We are pretty much spam free, we have a strong community base that alerts us to spam and it's removed pretty quickly.

Thanks for taking the time to join us, there's plenty of stuff on the forum to get stuck into.

Looking forward to reading your posts. :good:

Nice to see you getting to grips with the icons to! he he

Cheers.

Ben :)

Welcome Ben!

I too feel like I know you already! :friends:

Nice to take the time to join us, hope to read some of your posts soon.

Thank you for the welcome :) I've just realised the sub-title should be *tips hat*, not *tips head* .. my mistake for typing so late!:D

Welcome Ben.

Nice set of skills you have there :)

I hope you enjoy the community life over here at WDF.

I'v now changed it to *tips hat*! :)

Cheers dude, I think after 10pm my level of English runs on a skeleton staff!

Hi Ben - welcome to the forum - where abouts in Scotland are you? I'm based in Fife.

And to put the record straight - I'm not Scottish...I just live here...I am actually Polish.

I'm down in Ayrshire, on the west coast. :)

I've heard it's nice down there - never been there myself though.

It has it's good bits...and it's 'special' bits ;) Just like everywhere really - the coast in the summer is just lovely though!

we've got a fantastic coastline too - it's nice to be 5 minutes away from the sea - I go down to the shore so often in the summer.

Wow cool another person named Ben. Lol. Like you, I too am tired of American dominated graphics forum. Its a bit awkward, I too am an American, yet I am tired of the forums they run. I search google and couldn't find anything on good international graphics forum, then a friend of mine, Ehsan, told me about WDF so I decided to check it out. I then saw Eskymo's work and decided to stick around and look at other members work.

There are so many memebrs now - it's great - but I wish everyone had a link to their work as I'm so nosey!

Well there are many members now, but I believe there were more active people when this board started. I checked out the members list area and saw that majority of the members only have about 1 or 0 posts.

The thing I like about this forum is the small group of people who post regularly - it's less annonymous as we get to know each other quite well. Other forums I've been a member of haven't been the same and you feel like a stranger all the time. I fell I've made some really good mates in this place.

Maybe Ben will have an annual members clear-out - I saw that done on another forum and the list when from something daft like 9,000 to 175! :D

I think it's important that the forum has a 'community' feel to it, as you'll get much more out of it :)

I totally agree with the community aspect. I love it here! It's a great forum and has great people...but it also has other features like the blogs and gallery and other ways to contribute like adding to the links section etc and I think Ben is going to be adding more stuff.

I think Ben should probably have a clear out of members as I checked through the list recently and there are a lot of dodgy names in the list which I think have arisen from before the upgrade when the forum was being bombarded with spam links. Not sure how you determine which is spam though and which is genuine - wouldn't want to offend anyone. :pardon:

Well what he can do is look at the registration dates and then look at the number of posts, and the inactive dates. Then he can terminate those accounts that have been the least inactive. And even if he accidentally deletes someones who has little posts but visits the forum, they can always register again. Its free registration right?

Hmm.. I wonder which new member is really enjoying the forums?

Cheers for all the lovely welcome PM's and messages! :drinks:

WELCOME BabyBen

It's always great to have people join forums that bring something to it - I'm sparse on here (spend days on at a time then off for a week). I've read many of your posts and I can see you've fitted in right away! Anyways - I'm off now
