I'm looking at rethinking my tools (I do this now and again) - I feel i've slipped behind trends of good modern CSS/HTML editors, and what I should be using.

Can anyone recommend what the best CSS editor for 2013 is? I use Creative Suite CS6 - which had dreamweaver, sure but I tend to use the other packages more. I say 2013 - as want to be up-to-date with you cool kidz!

I'm looking for something less bloaty than DW-CS6.

I'm PC based.

Sublime Text is always recommended to Windows users. Very lightweight, free, very reasonable functionality...

 

Sublime Text 2 (free), or Sublime Text 3 ($70 ~ £45). I occasionally use v2 on my Macs.

I hear words like "Coda" being thrown around and things like that, (Though I think that's for a Mac) - but I was like, "Hey don't forget us PC Grandads".

Ha! Well, I use Coda, but yes, it's by a development team who make Mac-only software.

 

As a code editor, Sublime Text 2 should get you by. If you like it, keep your eye on the progress of v3 - they might release a free version at some point

I use Sublime Text 2 and love it. Very light weight and reliable!

I've just installed it and i love it, thanks very much again guys.

I like the simplicity of Adobe Edge Code. It's currently on Preview 2. It's light weight and there are extensions for advanced features.

Now that's one i've never heard of! - You're right it does look really nice and light, i'll see if I can get my hands on a preview, if not i'll just have to wait patiently.

I'm a member of the cloud service, so hopefully I can get my hands on it.

It's very nice. I use it to do majority of my front-end coding. Since it's based off of Bracket, there are several wonderful Bracket extensions you can use on Edge Code. Here is a link: https://github.com/adobe/brackets/wiki/Brackets-Extensions

Sublime's sweet man.

 

ST + Emmets + LiveReload + Fetch + less/sass = most fun I've had with front-end in a while.

I do all my coding in Microsoft's WebMatrix. I like it because it has a 'code completer' type tool(similar to DW), it supports the major languages and also has the ability to install Wordpress(and other CMS) templates.

Sublime is sublime. I fell in love with it 20 seconds after using it for the first time.

 

I still love Notepad++ too <3

I use Code and i love it. Much cheaper then dreamweaver.

 

Wy buy expensive software if you have better and cheaper software like Coda.

 

I recommend Coda! But it is Mac related so i don't know if that is a problem?
