What skills are needed to be a Freelance Web Designer?

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have been learning web designing this year, and so far I am happy with my learning progress.

I am strongly considering being a freelance web designer, in fact I am more than just considering it.

So far I have learnt:

-HTML

-CSS

-and have recently learnt about SEO.

To further my education in web designing, I will soon be learning:

-Javascript

-PHP

Also, I did a Photoshop course, just to improve the design aspect of web designing (creating logo's, graphics, buttons, etc).

My question is, what other skills/knowledge should I add for me to become a freelance web designer?

Look forward from hearing from you guys! :)

Thanks!

I haven't started freelancing yet and at the moment just do this for a hobby. However i think its worth just getting stuck in. With the rate at which the web evolves you could forever be learning new stuff.

Knowing how to distinguish between what the client wants and what they actually need. What they want will frequently be something that talks about how wonderful their company is. What they need will usually be something that helps their users to achieve whatever they came to the website for.

Stalking your client is an important skill too, I learned it from Renaissance-Design. :santa_cool:
