Help me find a catchy domain name

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been working on my "freelance" Web Design site, but I'm struggling to come up with a good catchy domain name to register for it. I've tried the usual domain name generating websites but have struggle to come up with anything decent.

I live in the Scottish Borders and have been trying to utilise key words from this area such as...

Tweed

River

Teviot

Borders

Design

Creative

Could anyone help ?

Thanks

What is your "freelance" name, are you using a company name or your name? I think that would help as well as the areas. I like Tweed and Borders though.

I don't have one yet. I've come up with

www.riverconcept.co.uk

How does that sound for a Web Designer ?

Now you're talking

Here are some of my rubbish ideas that might spark something better off:

www.nobordersdesign.co.uk

www.tartanborders.co.uk

www.1800miles.co.uk (Size of the region)

www.gallicdesign.co.uk

www.ealantadesign.co.uk (elanta is Gaelic meaning "ready, expert, artistic; ingenious")

Just trying different approaches and concepts that might help you brand your site.

I particularly like 'ealantadesign' - if you went down a Gallic route then it opens up a whole wonderful world of strong images.

Just a thought.

ealantadesign does sound good. However there is an http://www.ealanta.co.uk/ based in Edinburgh, which is just 40 miles up the road :(

Just drive 40 miles up the road, storm their offices, slaughter them and steal any iMacs they may have laying around!

These were just idea generators - maybe there's an even juicier Gaelic word you can use?

Hope it goes well - may I recommend not falling into traps like:

'www.therapist.com' - even if you're a therapist and not a danger to society (if they're not one in the same)!

:D

some good suggestions from wizeley there.

a good resource is an online thesaurus, start with a word you like and search and just follow all the links you can. jot down any words you like, then mix n'match see if any work for you.

glad you liked the bordersconcept think it has a ring to it.

Awww ... don't do that. I'm nice and I love my Apple machines.

I would not recommend posting suggestions here. Some evil domain parkers might beat you to it and force you to buy it from them.

i agree -_-

I would be tempted by something to do with rivers - flowing creativity, starting as a trickle and building up into a full force river etc. You get where I am going?

edit. jeez, just realised this thread is from april

use this two word and you can do somethin interesting...

Hi

May I say this?

Nothing can generate a name like the human mind.

If I was you I would go for a name which carries a map in its shell.... and find a play on that.

ie:… Braveheart

ie...Brave art

I hope it shines a light on an area that brightens my way.
