Hey guys.

So just wondering who else out there thinks like me.

I do web design as i see it leading up to something in the future...

Most nights or spare time i have is spent thinking about 'That next big idea' something new, etc.

My aim in web design is to finally get to the stage where i feel confident enough to be able to truly create these ideas i get into my head.

What about you? Is web design just for your 9-5 job? or do strive to be the next facebook, twitter or google etc...

:)

I really enjoy my day job and my company is amazing. We have such a laid back and relaxing atmosphere at the office (I play PS3 a couple times a day to refresh my brain) that I can easily see myself working there for years.

However, I'm finding myself drawn towards UX design more than visual design. I find more satisfaction coming up with a superb prototype in Balsamiq than I do working in Photoshop.

I also really want to start a game studio (which I'm starting to get the talent in place for now), so it's hard to say where I'll be in a couple years.

Wow, sounds like you have any amazing future ahead of you!

Thats my aim, to be in a place where its laid back / totally opposite.

It either needs to be Innocent smoothies style, or wearing suits all day for me.

Im adamant im not going to UNI so its just putting in the hours self learning and looking for that break!

I have a few ideas in the future, one of which is a gambling site but different of course... just getting the knowledge!

I see my future in web development as being quite small, but I hope to become recognisable as an website/UI designer.

Although I see some incredible talented people out there and dont live in an illusionary world where I think ever to compete with them, just have to find my niche.

For 5 years I already run my own wholesale company now and have little time to spare until I can hire more people to take over my part of that job.

Until then I approach web design as an extreme hobby, buy some domains and play around, read tutorials and chat with you guys.

Also, like you, I hope to eventually create a few websites to be proud of.

I am lucky that I dont have to answer to an employer and can invest more time than most others with a 9-5, but it is hard to mentally set aside one business and concentrate on another.

Although I have some talented friends and hope to get them together in one company, perhaps an investement for next year.

P.H.

I struggle to switch off which is especially hard when you work from home so I spend far to much time thinking about code ideas etc.

My ultimate aim for the next 3 to 5 years is to expand on my knowledge and to build a good rep.

It's my job, my career, and I wouldn't change it for the world. In 5 years? Hopefully have my own agency and be looking out for awesome people to hire.

It's a hobby and I'm very much a beginner at moment as I have a full-time job . I'd like to peruse as a career but that's a way off yet.

Is a hobby at the moment. Have a full time job which is arse.

Seems to be working as an excuse to get away from the girlfriend when required....

I wouldn't say I'm striving to make the next twitter or facebook, although over the last few years I've had more ideas than I've actually had the time to do..

The paid work can be a bit dull but it has to take priority to pay the bills. It would be nice if somebody paid me to make more fun stuff / ventures, but until that day comes I'm stuck mainly designing corporate type CMS websites etc.
