It's very good, I can't fault it. The home page is particularly good, great backgrounds, great artworks & a nice colour changing effect on the logo and menu.

 

Perhaps "lighten" up the inner pages by having a darkend semi-transparant page background layer of more artworks?

By and large it's very good. You did exactly what you should always do with a artists site and kept it as simple as possible to maximize the experience of viewing the art. Websites like these are about showing the art, they are not really web "design" as such, as much as the web design getting out of the way. You obviously get that so good work.

 

My only criticism would be on larger screens the navigation is a little lost. But I don't think there's much you could do about that.

The colours change using jQuery animating the "css" property (which removes hover) and I haven't added the new hover function. Site isn't 100% yet, and that's on the list!

Nice design. My only comment is that the copy content areas are too wide. Maybe split them up into 2 columns or rearrange them in some way so that it doesn't span the whole width.

No worries, cheers for the reminder! It's difficult to decide on the rollover though, as the whole reason the colours change is to make it easier to read the text...

hmm yes well......that could be a problem hmmm maybe if you highlight the hovered text with a background colour and rouded edges, that could improve visibility.

It's not a flash site and works fine on iPads, I can second that

yeah i concede that I was wrong about this, but on further examination of the code, the flash movie has a width and depth of 1px, what is it doing?

That embed is something to do with visitor statistics. It's monitoring software. Though if it is Flash based software it may not work on iPhones and iPads but I'm unsure on how it works exactly.

 

Anyway, nice design, really showcases the work, which is what's important.

 

I'm not too sure on the blog page, could do with a bit more of a design there I think. Overall though, great site.

Yeah the Flash generated by our 3rd party tracking software that collects referrers, keywords, geo location etc.

Very nice and allows the artwork to take centre stage. The only thing that bothers me is the RSS graphic or shopping cart on the left all by itself. It draws a lot of attention to it, maybe because of the high contrast. Otherwise well done.

I think you did an amazing job on the site. Absolutely love the homepage and I have to agree with the others that you did a good job at focusing on the artist’s art. As an artist myself I applaud this as I’ve seen a lot of web designers focus on the information and profile rather than the art. Keep up the excellent work and let us know how the client likes it.
