December 24, 201114 yr Hi, Just finished my iPhone icons for my portfolio need some feedback (negative or positive, I don't mind). The icons are 100% custom/photoshop with no images. They are still not complete as I am a perfectionist Harry Edited December 24, 201114 yr by Harrycouk
December 26, 201114 yr I think all they are missing is the classic apple 'sheen' Like so: Edited December 26, 201114 yr by Lovelock
December 26, 201114 yr For me the classic iPhone icons are outdated and these here are great, i love the textures.
December 27, 201114 yr The classic apple sheen is something they throw over icons that the developer doesn't specify as a "custom icon" or whatever it's called. An icon that is hyper-realistic like these doesn't need this, and it would probably be detrimental to the potency of the icon. These are pretty solid from a production value standpoint. I'd say they are appropriate for iOS from a visual style standpoint. However, I feel like, from a design standpoint, most of them are too busy and unclear. The only ones that really strike me as well-designed are the pencil, medal, camera and picture icons (since I can clearly see what they are without having to think about it). The others are too intricate for the size they are at or you've chosen imagery that could have multiple meanings. The first two in the sports category are a bit weak, visually, I'd go through and try to refine them and make them match the others in terms of quality. Regardless, some solid work.
January 2, 201214 yr While they may be a little busy in place, you've done some serious work to pull those all together. Nice one.
January 15, 201214 yr The tops ones a great. I find the food ones hard to see (too much detail). I love the work though! Great stuff.
January 16, 201214 yr I agree they are all great, however icons need to be simple, too much detail could make them hard to identify quick on your iphone/ ipad. The top designs are great as there are bigger images on them. I do really like the detail on the 'Food and Meals' but the images are too small, maybe pick one key image to focus on. Fantastic work.
