Logo Design: Automotive shop

This is a logo I put together for my friends shop, they have been in business for 40 some odd years (his father started it) and has no identity. My goal was something simple and effective, he mostly does basic maintenance work but does a lot of high performance work in the evenings and weekends.

It's nice but maybe you could include some visual element to show that it's auto related. Maybe give the "O" in Taiyo a tire effect?

it had crossed my mind but his father is a very traditional person and would likely never go for it. i may do it just to try it out but I`m 99% sure that would not work

The thin red tyre tracks (I'm assuming that's what they are, that's what they were suggestive of to me at least) and the thin small font for 'automotive' are my only criticisms.

It makes them get a little lost against the big Taiyo.

You're definitely on the right track here though..

I didnt realize the looked like tire tracks until it was pointed out on forrst... too funny. oh well

does the Automotive really need to stand out though? i fought with that one in my head for a while

Depends on how and where the logo will be used - I'm guessing for some signage?? I'm thinking of how the logo would work in the real world.

I wouldn't say it was a major problem but those were my first instincts on seeing it.

I dont like the small font.

Just looks to standard as apposed to the TAIYO.

Right direction though.

No we gave up on it since he decided to do a complete re-branding once his father retires later this year. :D time to get started on that!
