Lykc Says Hi!

Hi all,

been lurking around for a while now, but only recently joined so thought id make a quick introduction.

I'm currently a web producer for an online gaming site working with HTML, CSS and our CMS and it's easy/comfortable i guess, but ideally id like to get into freelancing as the freedom and thought of being able to work anywhere in the world is something that i think id love! B)

Im looking to learn flash, javascript and actionscript, basically becoming an expert in all-things front-end with an aim to sort out some kind of portfolio, but for my sins am finding it so damn hard to get motivated, so hope that being around the 'elite' of the web designer community will help/motivate me in some way!

cheers guys, and i will be posting a photoshop mock-up soon of a site im working on in the critique section. Im taking far too long doing it, so hoping u guys can provide the 'kick' i think i need :D or maybe people can share how they psyche themselves up to work on thing/learn new things?

thanks in advance and ill see u all around!

Hi LYKC, welcome to the forum.

I'll make sure to keep an eye out for your photoshop mockup!

Rob

Welcome :hi:

Motivation is a tough one - I find it the easiest thing in the world when I have a project/ brief to work on, but if I'm between jobs/ projects I mainly spend all day on this forum talking cr@p!

Nice to have you with us :)

Hi There LYKC,

Can't really tell you about motivation, I don't have any, I used to but not anymore.

Depends what your goals are!

Will look out for your mock-up though!

thanks all for the warm welcome :drinks:

talking cr@p notbanksy? nah, i find the more i read the forum the more enriched i am and the more tidbits i pick up, in no way sucking up of course!

no motivation Eris? What makes u get up every morning then lol?

its difficult when working a fulltime job i find to then go home behind the computer again but hopefully i can pull my finger out and start working on my portfolio. Cheers Ben and Rob, will definitely post in the critique section soon after i create something worth posting! Looks a bit bland atm, but getting there...

Sorry - missed the proper bout of welcomes - busy poking my nose into people's work! But welcome from me.

I find money to be a great motivator - without it you know I don't think I would have ever got in a cramped Tube in the rain and spent 8 hours a day mindlessly slaving for 'the man'!

If that's not enough then since going 'freelance' myself I 'have laptop will travel' and have spent 4 out of the last 6 years travelling... there's nothing quite like spending months diving, sunbathing and sinking ice-cold beers on a tropical island to make you think gosh I'm glad I did this!!!!!

Welcome :)

Now get your ass moving on that portofolio !

( studies have shown that the stick works better than the carrot :p)

Just kiddin, nice to have you here.

thats spot on wizely! I can so imagine bringing my laptop to a beach in a tropical location to 'work', without anymore rush hour, crappy weather or defined 9-5, tis a great goal to aim for!

cheers RJ also for the encouragement, and as we speak, im working on a site for my portfolio...

i love this place already! :good:

Welcome LYKC! Nice to have you aboard. :hi:

no motivation Eris? What makes u get up every morning then lol?
