September 30, 201115 yr Hello! I'm Yuval Malihi, photoshop designer. I'm new here:) I'm a girl, 18 years old and design for over 7 years... i'v really wanted to do something special and beautifull, didn't want to make another boring cold website. so I "upgrade" an wordpress theme to what you see now...pay attention to the effects from behind, the elephants and the clouds are moving at a different rhythm... www.yuvaldesigns.com please tell me if the website is slow while loading, there are big pictures... so .. what do you think?
September 30, 201115 yr Lovely design, but the first thing I'd say is: optimise your images! Yes, we're living in the age of ubiquitous broadband, but a background image that's 1.7mb in size is a bit excessive (especially when you're loading in several dozen other images that are over half a mb as well). Also, on my (non-widescreen) monitor, the background image tile vertically before you see the footer bar - it spoils an otherwise wonderful design.

Now you need to get in there and tune 'er up so she peforms with a bit of streamlining and speed. Optimise it. It's choking a bit - using too much power. It's making it a bit jerky. Nice design(s).
September 30, 201115 yr Gotta agree with the posters above. However if you're adamant on using such large images then look at pre-loading them as the staggered loading that currently happens is killing any mystique or feeling your site has as the user can literately watch it being pieced together.
September 30, 201115 yr Looks good! I have never seen so many javascript files used on one page! It's not really an original website design as such though, it's just a word press theme designed by these guys themeforest but by the looks of it you hacked it about nicely so good job!
September 30, 201115 yr I agree with the people above. The image size is too large. I honestly don't know why you used 2 images for the background. Using transparent images often means a larger png file size. So if you do combine both of the images, you can perhaps shrink it down to half the size using a 80 or even 90% jpeg. And to be honest, I don't like how you portrayed your portfolio. First of all the images you used for the cover/selection are not created by you, in addition the text is actually removing the beauty that the images do have. Furthermore, the left side image selection are not attractive. For some reason I feel like I have seen this design somewhere before. Not the exact same thing but it has a lot of similarity to another template: the function, the slide effect and the general feel of the design.
September 30, 201115 yr Author thank you all for the comment. yes, i did have a problem with the photos wight - i having trouble to change the location of the photo (.png to .gif with smaller size) maybe someone can give me a hand? and, i used 2 photos to create the effect of sliding for those of you who didn't notic it.. uhm, and what do you mean - sazzed by the cover selection are not mine? sure they are..
October 1, 201115 yr it's certainly an impressive design but for me it doesn't matter how good it looks if it doesn't perform it might as well be ugly- like everyone else says, optimise images for quicker download time. char
