September 25, 201114 yr I've been trading under the name 'Snappy Creations' for a good while now, and to be honest I hate the name. After so long though, I think it would do more harm than good to start from scratch and lose the name. So, that aside, the current website and logo were just, well, awful. Knocked up quickly and if anything does me a huge disservice, so I've taken the site offline and am in the process of completely redesigning both. I wouldn't mind some input on the logo I've come up with. It's early days and the colours are just preliminary and only for illustration here, though I actually quite like them. Also, the name, is it really that bad? I used to think it was okay, but instead of growing on me now it just makes me cringe... Stick with it, or start again? Anyways, the logo:
September 26, 201114 yr I don't like either the name or logo I'm afraid. If it's making you cringe then that should be telling you that it's not right! Snappy Creations makes it sound quite cheap, tacky, and like maybe you will rush the just because it will be so 'snappy'. Sorry!
September 26, 201114 yr Author No worries, I'd rather an honest opinion and you mention some fair points. I'm starting to sway toward just using my own name, it is just me after all and the whole point of me doing this is to start building up a portfolio. Makes more sense
September 26, 201114 yr I'd remove jaws from S (probably transforming this letter into the dragon tail or something like that) and add an eye to the C.
September 26, 201114 yr I'm afraid I'm with mrcristoph with the name... It makes me think more of something to do with photography before design. sorry.
September 26, 201114 yr If you're going with the letters/animal theme why not give each more character? Maybe an eye, each? I agree that the teeth on the S don't look right - The jaws on the C are the correct way around, but they are going opposite ways on the S, which looks unnatural, so unless that was your intention....? Also, maybe it's just my pet hate, but for final logos, I don't like just using initials... In your case, anyone stumbling across your logo will not know what SC would stand for unless it is places next to the words Snappy Creation's... Edited September 26, 201114 yr by alistairfellowes
September 26, 201114 yr If you dislike the name and the images, I'd say it's time to do some rebranding! You can change all the details and (I'm not sure how large your business is) gain some great PR. You could say something like "_______________ is finally here, formally known as Snappy Creations" ... Don't think of all the people you might lose, but think of the people you will gain with the rebrand. Be yourself, you'll feel more comfortable, thus will become more successful. =)
September 26, 201114 yr If you hate the name, you cant be pationate about your business. How big is your following? Is it really that big a deal re branding? Just use your current portfolio but if needed mention the name change. Its nothing that would me off a purchase.
September 26, 201114 yr For me the name doesn't represent design, snappy? Means fast? Good design is not a flash in the pan. I think rebrand. Charlotte
