I Cheated and I'm Sorry

Featured Replies

Hi guys this is about the thread I made yesterday http://www.webdesignerforum.co.uk/topic/51465-sweat-blood-guts/

I'm here to say I am very sorry and I have only let me self down, I've been at work all day and have been on here through my lunch hours. I have felt guilty all day about nicking the ideas from such a wonderful website of mattimling.com

I wanted to pick up some ideas from other freelance web designers and I just took the p**s a bit :(

I hope this doesn't make me a bad person but I have surely learnt my lesson, My website www.b3webstudio.com has been taken back a few steps and I'm keeping the way it is from now. I promise you guys that my header has always been the same so I do not feel I should take that down at all, I've always had the dashed lines as It keeps the website in a very neat condition.

Id like to make an apology to a member "alzer81", I was wrong what I said and the way I reacted. I hope in the future you could give me some good advice and ideas, And I also love your website.(I'm not going to nick it lol)

I would also like to give an apology to any other members I had a go at or the way I reacted.

Moving on from that, As you can see my Nav-Bar. When you hover over the links you can see a underscore underneath, I would really like to make that a slider.. How would I do that ? (Im guessing that is with jQuery ?..)

Good way to go Adam.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking at other websites and trying to imitate some of their design cues.

I used to spend hours trawling through themeforest and smashingmagazine, looking at the best websites and then looking at their code to find out how they made their websites so good.

I wouldn't worry about it now too much, we've all done silly things sometimes, especially us younguns, and you shouldn't beat yourself up too much about it as you're obviously sorry.

But yeah, taking inspiration and imitating the design cues of other websites is absolutely fine

I appreciate you taking down your "What I do" page and removing the "web design" block of text from the contact page, but I'd also appreciate you changing the last line of your contact blurb, that's verbatim from mine still.

I also appreciate the public apology. If you learned your lesson and it doesn't happen again I think this was actually a beneficial experience.

Once you get a finalized site, post it up so we can see what you've done (and offer honest feedback if you so desire).
