Hello..

 

Basicly i have made a design in photoshop for a website and it looks very nice. However when i put the website into HTML and i made the background repeat i realised that it didnt look right. I used CSS to center the background so that my main part was in the middle with the wrapper... but because i have effects on the top of my page it doesnt repeat very well... i cannot show you my design because i need at least 25 posts...

 

 

but my problem is with the stripes on my banner. they do not match up when i make the banner repeat... i think that the problem is because of the size of banner does fit right for the pattern or something so it cant continue from one side to the other.. but does anyone know how i fix this? (

 

P.S

this is not the only site i have these kind of problems with, i experience this problem a lot and i just need help on resolving it..

Thanks for image posting and no it wont... i thought it would but when you repeat the banner with the stripes... the stripes do not match up with each other... I cant put it onto a host right now because im on a different machine but if anyone has any idea on why this is happening and how to fix it, it would be great. lol

You'll need to find the right place to crop it, stripes like that can be fiddly but there should be a number of pixels width that gives you the right results. The only way to it is to keep cropping at different widths till you find the sweet spot

I cant get this design to work the way i want in HTML and CSS. If i upload the PSD does anyone want to give it a go at making the website a working HTML+CSS website. Also if anyone has Msn or Xfire then PM me your details and you can help me through that.

The one problem in this design that i have noticed is that if you go to the TOP RIGHT of the canvas.. you will notice the diagional lines do not go right to the edge. I didnt really think i need to match it up seeing as i will be cutting the banner down to a different size anyway...

 

so, if anyone can work out how to get the design into a HTML,CSS webpage, that would be great.. (Also explaining to me how they have gone about it..)

How are you adding the background?

 

Is it an image or CSS background colour?

 

The way I do it is I normally create the background of the screen resolution with your site body (850px) in the middle, then simply crop/slice the middle out, and when you are saving the background image, just hide the body and save that. That way the lines will match up as they are part of a bigger image, the background.

 

I am not sure if that's the best way to do it, but that's how I do it.

 

To do this increase your canvas size in width to a large screen resolution size and place you body (850px) in the centre.

Your stripes are 10px wide, so you need to take a 20px slice for your background.

With my method you will not need to repeat anything as the background will be the size of you monitor. As I said I would go for a large screen size, that way it will fit all, large and small screens.

 

But what Renaissance-Design said above may be more help if you want to crop it and repeat it.
