Suggestions, please

Come to a bit of a standstill with this design.

My main areas of contention are the open space in the header, and the sloppy formatting in the 'Our food philosophy' section, but, if you pick up on anything else that could use some work, let me know.

Any suggestions? :unknw:

Nice design, simple and clean.

A coulple of small remarks:

1. Too big gap between logo and menu, IMHO.

2. Link "Download PDF format" needs to be decreased twice or trice (both text and icon).

In the header open space I suggest you put a long scenic picture or 3 views of the hotel.

Thanks, both :)

D'you mean the horizontal gap or the vertical gap?

Fixed that, thanks!

This was my first thought, but I rejected it for two reasons:

- Couldn't think of a way to incorporate it with the nav seamlessly..

- ..and without it looking tacky/cluttered

Just been trying it out for a while, anyway, but to no avail :(

Any alternative suggestions on the header/'Our food philosophy' front?

For the header, if the restuarant has had a decent write up in the paper or something similar would be nice to include a quote.

This was another thing I considered - wasn't overly enthusiastic about the idea 'cause it'd still leave the area blank on the other pages of the site... but still, it's a start, so maybe I'll give it a go anyway, might inspire me :) Thanks!

Any more comments? Still feel it's lacking somewhat..

the template design is quit nice to see .. having pleasant look

^ Thanks :)

Added a quote to the header and made a few changes to the font styles - Verdicts? Comments? Suggestions? Not 100% on the quotation marks, and not really sure how much it adds to the design..

I'm also still struggling with how to format the 'food philosophy' area..any advice on that score would be much appreciated!

Hi m8,

I like your design, nice and clean, good colour scheme. I think adding the quote has made a big improvement, but personally I would have the navigation menu 'connected' to the logo and not have that horizontal gap at all.

keep up the good work ;)

Would splitting the area into 2 equal sections, and having perhaps a few images of the hotel in the bottom corner be too extravagant? Or perhaps a Google Maps driven "location" displayed?

Thanks for the compliments! Will give the menu thing a go :)

Not sure about the map thing - don't know how appropriate it'd be for the Menu page - but I might try narrowing the text area a bit and sticking some photos in there to break it up, like you suggest. Cheers :)
