December 20, 201015 yr I'm looking for all kinds of feedback & suggestions. Whether it be with the code, images or whatever. Give me everything! My Site Edited December 20, 201015 yr by MikeP
December 20, 201015 yr Author It's not finished yet obviously. Just wanting feedback & suggestions thus far. Thanks!
December 20, 201015 yr absolutely ****ing awful! nah just kidding - pretty much spot on you have a 1pixel shift on your navigation buttons on hover when the border comes on - try adding 1px more padding on the normal state or a 1 px transparent border so it doesn't jump (at least it does in latest firefox on windows) alt attributes missing no favicon no print stylesheet - or it needs work if there is one nice job
December 20, 201015 yr Author I'm a very basic website developer so... Bare with me lol. Print stylesheet? A favicon shows for me ALT tags... I'm getting there... Sheesh Not sure what you mean about the menu pixel... I'm using Firefox too and don't see what you see... Thanks! Edited December 20, 201015 yr by MikeP
December 21, 201015 yr I'm a very basic website developer so... Bare with me lol. Print stylesheet? A favicon shows for me ALT tags... I'm getting there... Sheesh Not sure what you mean about the menu pixel... I'm using Firefox too and don't see what you see... Thanks! A print stylesheet is a simple stylesheet where you make it printer friendly for example get rid of backgrounds and just make it white (so you aren't wasting loads of ink.) Here's an article on it. http://www.alistapart.com/articles/goingtoprint/ I can see the favicon too so maybe it's something you need to look at if dap can't see it. On the alt tags he said the site isn't finished yet so give him time but I would say do them as you're adding the images because if you do them all at the end it gets very tiresome. I'm getting the same 1 pixel shift on the navigation. If you hover over shared hosting (or any of the nav that isn't active) It jumps down a pixel? Overall the design is really nice and spot on for a hosting company.
December 21, 201015 yr Hello, Very nice design, good job mate. Some remarks or what can be done for to improve a bit the look of the header: Align Mother Earth to the left edge of the content text. Adjust this shadow, make it a bit more natural. Remove the shadow under the text Align Live Support button. Hope that helps.
December 21, 201015 yr Author I thank you all for the suggestions but as I said, I'm very basic with things like HTML & CSS etc. So tutorials, or code snippets with suggestions would be appreciated. Things like aligning stuff I have no problem with that but for removing shadows and stuff... I'm still not sure what a print stylesheet is... Would that be just adding type="print" or something to the CSS call? Thanks!
December 21, 201015 yr Author I've replaced it with a Coming Soon page as there is still loads to do and still loads of learning for me to do on coding etc lol.
December 21, 201015 yr 1. Globe and text - two objects are close to each other and simultaneously are lying on the different surfaces (and both have different lighting sources with different light directions). I guess it looks a bit unnatural. IMHO there are four ways to solve problem: 2. Remove shadow beneath the text 3. Remove both shadows. 4,5 Choose one (single) light source. Do you not see any problem with lighting in your current design? I beg your pardon if I am wasting your time.
December 21, 201015 yr Author I don't really see an issue with the logo to be honest. I think removing the shadows etc would make it look plain. Other than that... The logo, to me, looks like it's hovering over a white table so to speak with it's current shadows... That's just my opinion though. My main focus at the moment is to get the coding and everything done and then I'll focus on other things that are harder for me to do such as design. As for the people that have experienced the 1px shift on the navigation, what resolution are you using as I use 1680x945. Thanks.
December 21, 201015 yr Author OK, I've just made some major validation edits and the website is now completely W3Schools Compliant. As for the logo as most people are talking about. I understand what you mean about it not looking realistic, but does it need to? Of course I'd like it to look realistic but me and Photoshop turn into a civil war to put it bluntly lol. I'm going to space the LiveChat image & logo now. You can view the site here. Thanks!
December 21, 201015 yr i was going to mention the logo too i agree with lev - and i think his first or second option is best. this is the 1px difference - not much but it makes the text jump down noticeably for me
December 21, 201015 yr Author Ah, I know what you mean now. When you hover over and it goes black, the text drops? That's with the effect and I wouldn't know where to start editing that... Thanks.
January 2, 201115 yr Author I've made some further changes to the website so I'm looking for further feedback if anyone can? Greatly appreciated! My Site
January 2, 201115 yr The shadowing on the logo really does look strange, I'm not going to go into it as that was already elaborated on. All in all a quite decent site, for me it just looks so generic and like all those other hosting sites, so it doesn't really make me want to see if your prices differ from others'.
January 2, 201115 yr Author It was a template. I have made loads of changes to the actual look of the site from what it originally was.
