February 27, 200818 yr I've tried asking over at the Plogger forums but they were no help. Hence, I am asking for help here. I'm trying to install plogger. I've successfully installed it four times already in various places, so I guess my fifth time is cursed. Everything's uploaded correctly. I run the installer, and it seems to be okay. It says everything was successful, etc. etc. But then, I try to view the gallery and get the standard error about tables being missing. A quick trip to phpMyAdmin shows that no tables have been created at all. Any suggestions / insight into why this might be? I've done everything by the book... but it's not working.

If it's a brand new install I would delete everything and start again. If it fails a second time check to make sure the server meets all the script requirements (just to be sure) if it does there may be something wrong with the installer. Alternatively try importing all the DB tables manually

If you are at the point were you are implementing applications into your website you must havea general interest in web design!! Why dont you follow the steps below: Create a fully functional webserver manually or just use XAMMP ! Use dreamweaver to create pages to handle your photo galeries & downloads! Use PHP\msql to handle your photo uploads & managment & possible accounts to your website!! Al most of these applications like plogger are is a simple content backend managment system that within a couple of months of learning you could create your own!! Try W3schools website & practise php & you will see what i mean.... If you dont fancy learning pure code you could use dreamweavers inbuilt functionality-but this feature is limited!! I hope this helps... Happy coding Andy
February 27, 200818 yr Author Hi Andy, thanks for the optimism, but I wouldn't touch dreamweaver with a 3.048 metre barge pole unless I was at gunpoint. @Bluedreamer - I thought I'd done that, several times, but... apparently not. Anywhoo, php_penguin sat with me (on msn) and held my hand while I hacked away at the config file and deleted everything. I ran the installer again, and it worked first time!
February 28, 200818 yr Dreamweaver is just a tool, it doesn't make you a great designer or a great web developer...notepad is just as good if you know how to code. And there is a lot wrong with dreamweaver...but it can be useful to some, but to most it is a mistake as they rely on it so much.
February 28, 200818 yr Whats wrong with dreamweaver?? The price Adobe charge, I don't like lining the pockets of shareholders
February 28, 200818 yr Whats wrong with dreamweaver?? In my opinion, it makes you a lazy developer; you end up relying on the WYSIWYG functionality, rather than learning anything. I prefer having 100% control over every single line of code; that way, you can be sure that it's going to validate and be semantically correct.
