Right, like i said in my intro thread.. i'm a complete new boy to web design, but its something that ive always been intrested in!

 

I personally think i'd prefer the graphic side, more than coding in general, so i'd rather start with graphics, then maybe extend into coding later in life!

 

Just a couple of questions to ask the pros!

 

a) Best program to start with? Id prefer to specialise in logos i think.

Is there any free blogging sites i could use, so when i have made some pieces, i have a little area of my work.

Logos - Adobe Illustrator.

General Graphic work/Site mock-ups - Adobe Photoshop.

 

(those are just my personal preferences)

 

You could sign up for a free Wordpress blog, or Blogger, or simply Google "free blogs"

Hello and welcome to the forum. As stated above I think you will find that photoshop and illustrator are the most commonly used programs for logos and web layouts, although some people will use fireworks for layouts as well.

If you're looking for free software, then GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org/ ) will do as a replacement for Photoshop, and Inkscape ( http://inkscape.org/index.php?lang=en ) is a good substitute for Illustrator.

Ive downloaded inkscape as a starter, just to get myself on the ball and start having amess around, and see what buttons do what etc.
